I am surprisingly conscious just now, wide awake, ready to tackle the week's challenges, the works. I think part of it is Daylight Savings, which means I now get to rise with the sun rather than before it. And that hour later in the morning thing just feels *so* good. The other reason is that the housemate and I were smart and just took yesterday off rather than attempting to go to class and do lots of housework and errands and such. Instead we got up decadently late, had done most of the cleaning up the night before so had a tidy house, then went to see "The Ring", came back made a few snacky-type things for a few guests, and watched the original "Ringu" in Japanese.
I won't spoil the flick for you, but given the choice between the two, go with the American version. Yeah it's a remake, but it's one that actually improves upon the original. Much tighter story, more suspenseful, better use of all the characters, and ultimately it just made a lot more sense. I'm glad I brought along my stuffed tiger as having it to clutch during a few of the scarier moments was incredibly comforting. Might want to track down the novel for this one if it's been translated, it could help fill in a few of the plot holes that left us all scratching our collective heads by the end.
The housewarming party was a major success, even if we did make *way* too much food. I still say we couldn't possibly have known that it was, in fact, far too much food as we didn't have an accurate headcount. Still, with a little hard selling from the two hostesses a good portion of the goodies either got eaten or went home with people. I thank those brave souls who agreed (under duress, most often) to take some food with them. We now have an empty freezer, but lots and lots of crackers and sodas. Ah well, hopefully we can talk a few people into dropping by over the next few weeks to help us get rid of what remains.
Overall things went incredibly well, though there were a few small issues that I would've liked to change. The biggest one being an earlier attempt that day to slice off my left index finger. I managed to take a chunk out of the knuckle and nick a vein so I ended up bleeding through two gauze pressure bandages. The third one was the charm, though, and the only trick at that point was keeping it dry. Doing dishes or showering without the use of one hand is pretty challenging if you've never tried it. Changed the dressing yesterday morning and had some intense flashbacks to doing something similar for
h0h0 about a year plus ago. Good thing too, as I knew just what to do. And the wonderful Aelf gave me some of her healing strips which not only fit securely but seem to be doing a wonderful job on the wound itself. I think regardless of my excellent care I'm going to end up with quite a scar. It was a pretty big chunk of skin gone. Ah well, I'll add it to the collection.
Slacked on class yesterday (and rightly so, it's nice feeling rested and refreshed for a change) but won't do so tonight or tomorrow. Yay dancing! Yay diet that's working despite having food shoved at me all Saturday night! Yay getting the body I was proud of back again! And definitely yay sleep and taking it easy yesterday!
