It's like Christmas in September

I almost forgot, I nearly danced around the living room this morning when I saw Scotty McClellen sweating it out while the headline below him read "Tom DeLay Indicted". I swear it was like opening the door to find a bouquet of roses on my front step. I felt just like a kid at Christmas.

So, we have a federal probe implicating the president's number one political advisor and the vice president's chief of staff in the violation of laws protecting CIA agents and possibly lying to federal investigators.
We have a multi-pronged investigation into a lobbyist who happens to be a very close associate of Tom DeLay,Grover Norquist, Ralph Reed, Karl Rove and the entire Republican leadership going back to their youth as members of the College republicans. This lobbyist is now implicated in a mafia murder plot and has been arrested on charges affiliated with that crime.
A member of the Bush administration who is a good friend and associate of all of the above was arrested this week for lying to the Feds about his good friend the lobbyist.
The majority leader of the Senate is now officially under investigation by the SEC and federal prosecutors for insider trading involving potentially many millions of dollars.
The majority leader of the House was just indicted by a Texas Grand jury for violating laws prohibiting the use of corporate money in campaigns.
I am so relieved that the Republicans restored honor and integrity to Washington. There hasn't been even one blow job in that town since they took power.
Update: Oh and that reminds me --- David Drier is now the majority leader of the House of Representatives.

DeLayed Inaction
Date: 2005-09-28 09:36 pm (UTC)His speech today was a load of shit.
I was not aware of the mafia stuff, but such things are not unheard of. Do you have a solid news reference (not that the media is reliable by any means)?

Date: 2005-09-29 03:30 am (UTC)I'd like to see these two go to court, and since they're not as rich or powerful as Delay, they're likely to actually see the inside of a courtroom and possibly serve time.
Honestly, what I'd like to see is a political system with a little bit of integrity, and not dominated by two large players with a scorch-the-earth damn-the-consequences winner-take-all game plan.
My take--I'd like to see people punished for reprehensible behavior. After the Reagan years, it'd be a nice change.

Date: 2005-09-29 04:01 pm (UTC)Well if he's guilty of even half of the charges that have been brought against him in the past few years then you might want to reconsider his relative importance to you. I mean as the head of his party he's theoretically supposed to live up to the ideals of the GOP. Which now seem to include lying, unethical behavior, eggregious moral lapses and fascist-like power grabs.
I am curious as to your take on the developing situation in my home state of Maryland where the Lt. Gvnr. who is considering a Senate run had democratic staffers take his social security number to illegally run a credit report on him.
Well I'd have to say, wow, look at the difference between these two parties when it comes to legal violations:
" Barge, a Democratic operative who led the research unit for a liberal media watchdog group run by journalist David Brock before joining the committee in February, reported her actions to the committee's executive director, J.B. Poersch Jr., within hours. Poersch relayed the information to the U.S. attorney's office and suspended the pair with pay until Aug. 31, the official said."
And I'd agree with what

Date: 2005-09-29 07:11 pm (UTC)Yeah---I'd like to think someone on both sides of the aisle would get turned in for things that quickly though, of course, I have my doubts. Still, it proved interesting to me, watching how this is developing--again, partically because I'm from MD. ;)
