I will be reverting back to my meeting-based lifeform format today so emails will appear slowly if at all, many apologies!

But before I submerge, I must comment that "Transporter 2" is one of the best examples of why Americans can't make decent HK style action flicks to save their collective lives. They took a great character and fun little first film, gutted it, added some truly retarded CGI nonsense, flat out raped the laws of physics (to such an extent that at one point the audience actually as one groaned and muttered aloud), and threw in a child in peril uber-cliche just to put the last nail in the coffin. In summary, watch the first one, which is fabulous and features all kinds of Cory Yuen choreography and editing that will make you intensely happy if you're a fan of the HK action genre. Avoid the second like the plague until it comes out on video, then just watch the two or three little sequences they let Cory handle, try to forget that a lot of it was ripped off from a couple of Jet Li flicks, and you might just enjoy it.

Or just go rent Ong Bak, which is what I should've done. *sigh*

Damn. I was hoping that it was going to have the charm of the first one.

Oh no, they had a charm-ectomy on this one, it left a horrible scar...

Alas, no. As much as I would have liked to see you again, I'm rather glad you missed out on this very standard Hollywood action flick. It had a few good moments, and I laughed on occasion when they wanted me to laugh, and if it hadn't been Luc Besson/Cory Yuen/Transporter franchise I suspect I might have said 'hunh. that was okay.' (In all lower case letters.)

Did you see "Man on Fire" with Denzel Washington? Same concept: uber-tough guy babysitting kid loses kid and hunts bad guys who have kid.

But, you know, good.

No I haven't seen that one yet, but I've heard very good things about it.
