Fantastic!
Jun. 29th, 2005 08:56 pmAnd yes I had to watch the second half through the skips, but I toughed it out and forced myself to be patient. Sure I missed bits and pieces of dialogue, but I got the overall gist and dammit I had to know how it was going to end.
My biggest reactions were:
1) I haven't seen this kind of epic storytelling in the series since the Tom Baker days. Gods I was flashing back to "Genesis of the Daleks" with a vengeance throughout this one.
2) Floating Daleks are way scarier than the originals, particularly when said Daleks can zip around outer space sans ships.
3) There ought to be a law against anyone looking as hot as Captain Jack does in leather pants...really, my heart can't take that kind of thing on even an episodic basis.
4) "I am become Rose, destroyer of worlds!" Rose as the golden incarnation of chaos and time itself was pretty freaking cool. I so wanted her to haul off and slug the Doctor and growl, "Don't you *ever* try to ditch me again!"
5) I was actually rooting for Rose and the Doctor to kiss, this is like so wrong on so many levels. I mean I pitched a royal hissy fit in the American version when the Doc got some action, but now I'm like, "Yes, more please!"
6)The Doctor begins regenerating and I'm sobbing my eyes out. He completes the process and my first response is, "Heeelllloooo, Nurse!" I...um...ok I'm still heartbroken to lose the 9th incarnation but number 10 is not so hard on the eyes, no not one little bit. Although I did spend the end also yelling at the t.v., "Now you two go back and get Captain Jack, dammit!" I'm hoping the next episode starts with Jack slugging the new Doc and growling, "Don't you *ever* try to ditch me again!"...and then pouncing on him for a good long snog. Mmm, a girl can dream...
Edit: David Tennant, Dr. Who number 10 is also playing Barty Crouch Jr. in Goblet of Fire...yum!
