Ah another lovely weekend has ended and Monday morning rears its ugly head once more. Woke up a few minutes late this morning, thus giving the sun time to rise before actually crawling out from under the covers. It's always more pleasant to drag oneself up when it actually looks like morning outside rather than the middle of the night.

Friday evenings I've turned into "my night", housework, yardwork, everything gets done that night and then I burn a couple of candles and veg for a bit. Did a bit of reading in my shamanic texts to start plotting out my vision quest in November. The ideas are still nebulous at this point, and I want to check out my Celtic shaman book as well before putting anything down on paper or renting a room somewhere. The "highlight" of the evening was heading outside to try and de-peach the backyard. I would say I moved roughly 40 pounds of small, unripened peaches to their final resting place in my yardwaste bin. And that was just a small fraction of the number of them on the tree. How do I know this? Because Saturday morning when I went out again to water plants the ground was so littered with decaying peaches that it looked as if I hadn't done a thing the night before. *sigh*

Saturday morning started fairly early so I'd have a chance to hit the post office and pick up a package from my buddy John. Inside were all kinds of LOTR goodies, including all the promo buttons (each character with a nice pic), some cardboard stands, a giant sticker and a nice poster. Also inside was a gorgeous gift from his mom, a wonderful (and warm!) quilt of my very own. It's so beautiful, I immediately laid it out on my bed and just gazed at it happily for a while. I've always wanted a quilt and to get one with the dark blues and purples I love so was amazing. I took pics and will post them when I get a chance to upload.

The afternoon was spent doing much shopping, first at Pier One and Mattress Discounters for odds and ends for the house and a futon cover to match the papasan. [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene managed to find the exact dishes she desired on a sale she couldn't possibly refuse. Already marked down 50% off she got an additional 20% too, so we now have a green leafy dish/bowl/saucer/mug setting for 6. We'll need to come up with some sort of excuse to host a dinner party now I think. I got the central "theme" piece for our front mantle. It's a gorgeous Chinese style lantern for tea lights, I'll try to light it up tonight to see how it looks, I'm betting pretty darn cool.

Then ran home to whip up some rather mediocre (but edible) calzones for everyone. I wish I'd been able to figure out a way to bring along some dipping sauce for them as they were way too dry. Still, being in a gorgeous wooded glade watching Shakespeare made up for the less than delectable food. Gods I love "Much Ado About Nothing"! I still want to be Beatrice when I grow up, and the production itself was absolutely wonderful. It's playing through the 22nd so if anyone has a desire to go I'm totally game. I know that I suggested this Friday for the flashlight tour of the Winchester House, but I'd gladly pass on that to see this play again.

Sunday we headed up to South San Francisco for [livejournal.com profile] eilonwey's bridal shower which was thoroughly decadent and lovely. It was nice to meet some new folks and just kind of relax and be for a bit. The gifts were amazing, everyone was so generous and thoughtful it was very nice to see. After saying our goodbyes the housemate and I headed back and I called home and then John to say hi and then coerced [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene into helping me de-peach again. We must've moved close to 50 pounds of peaches and dead apples again before the yard was actually fairly clear. We also collected a big full bag of good apples that are quite sweet and yummy. Bet they'd be good in cider...

Then we ended up vegging for a while and I showed her "Jackie Chan: My Stunts" which was fun, though we almost missed "Gladiatrix" because of it. Great show, I ended up setting the VCR to tape it during its later replay. Lucy Lawless doing the voiceover was a helluva lot of fun. We also heard next Sunday they're doing "Viking Voyages" and next month "The Assasination of King Tut". Gods I'm such a history geek, I'm already bouncing about both.

Didn't end up getting the rewriteable CD drive I'd wanted to, but just relaxing at home for an afternoon/evening more than made up for it. Maybe I'll stop tomorrow night after work and pick one up...

I know, I can't wait! I've really missed class, though I haven't missed having a few days off a week to get stuff done *G*

I'm pretty nervous. All the other guys have backed out on me, so as far as I know, I'm the only testosterone (such as it is) in the class. I hope I don't end up looking like a total ass.

I do, however, have at least one song lined up that I want to dance to eventually. It's um... completely non-traditional, and I'm hoping I can find a decent way to move to it. Istanbul, not Constantinople by They Might Be Giants. :)

ROTFL, oh gods I would pay good money to see you dance to that one! You may not back out now 'cause this I have to see *G* I'm already thinking up moves that would work to it. And I'm with you on music choice, I get bored by seeing dancers do just your basic every day kind of Arabic music over and over again. There's all kinds of music that you can dance to and have a lot of fun doing it. Indeed I often practice shimmying to "I Want Candy" by BowWowWow }:)

*grin* I figured 'why be normal if I'm being shoved into this', so that song is perfect. Also, I don't think that anyone would let me back out. I'm bound and determined to be GREAT at this. And as for paying money, I'm sure there will be plenty of people who are going to show up the first time I perform that song, just to (a) see me fall on my face, (b) cheer me on, (c) see what I can do, or (d) all of the above. And when I do that song, dear gods, there's gonna be some screaming. This isn't gonna be a low-energy dance. :)

1) I am sure you will do JUST FINE.

2) WTF do you care what anyone else thinks anyway?

3) This gives you something else to shop for clothes for. That way [livejournal.com profile] ebonlock can quit encouraging me to spend my money on dance outfits.

Right, like you need lots of encouragement };)
Heh, though spreading the evil around is always a good idea...

1) Yeah, I know I'll be okay. I have to stress about it, though, or I will explode. :)

2) I don't. I just get a little leery when I'm the only "type" in a room, and I'll be two onlies in that class, most likely.

3) Hee! I won't be buying my dance outfits. I'll buy the material and either make them myself or bribe [livejournal.com profile] princessmei to help. She can be bought with sushi. :)
