Well, I guess we could give them points for honesty, via Pandagon:
Governor Signs Abortion Bill At Fort Worth Church

In a ceremony filled with religious references, Gov. Rick Perry signed a bill at a church school gymnasium Sunday that imposes more limits on late-term abortions and requires minor girls to get written parental consent for abortions.

"And it has been a tragedy of unspeakable consequences that for decades activist courts denied many Texas parents their right to be involved in one of the most important decisions their young daughter could ever make -- whether to end the life that was growing inside her," Perry told a crowd of about 1,000 people gathered at the Calvary Christian Academy. "For too long, a blind eye has been turned to the rights of our most vulnerable human beings -- that's the unborn in our society."

Vive la Microscopic-Americans! Or something. But here's the money quote:

During the 1 1/2-hour program, Perry also signed a resolution to amend the Texas Constitution by banning same-sex marriages.

"Texans have made a decision about marriage and if there is some other state that has a more lenient view than Texas then maybe that's a better place for them to live," Perry said.

I'm literally at a loss for words here on so many levels...

So, girls don't get rights, just fetuses? Is he checking to make sure the fetus is a straight white conservative Christian before he chains its mother to a birthing chair and forces her to do his bidding for 9 months?

Bet he would if he could.

Dude, get with the program, they're no longer "fetuses", they're "microscopic-Americans". I shit you not, it's the new talking point amongst the wingnuts. Nearly hurt myself laughing the first time I read it. And yes you are correct, girls' rights to control their own reproductive organs take a back seat in the great state of Texas. And if the wingers have their way, all over this country.

Governor "we don't like yer kind 'round here" Perry, kiss my ass.

One wonders if you removed the quote from its current context and let people fill in their own group he could be addressing, how most would view that statement.
