Ok so I'm a fangirl, I admit this and even take a certain amount of
pride in it. So when I read the spoiler today for SW II: Attack of
the Clones, I can admit to you all, dear readers, that I nearly
spontaneously combusted right here in my seat. If even one tenth of
what the reviewer wrote was true it's going to be a religious
experience for me. I may even end up surrounded by a golden aura and
unable to articulate except to speak in tongues for days afterwards.

I can almost bring myself to believe that Phantom Menace had a purpose
and perhaps (just perhaps) wasn't as wretched an atrocity as I'd
thought. I mean if he can redeem it with Ep II...well, like I said if
even half of what I read is true this Jedi Slut is going to be in
seventh heaven. A real battle of Master Jedi...excuse me while I wipe
up the drool.

So basically it comes down to this, I'm going opening night, if they
do the midnight showing thing the day of the opening that's where I'll
be. I don't care what I have to do to get there, I'm there. Any
hearty souls who feel up to braving it with me are definitely invited
along. Good lord, this might just be enough to get me through the summer
waiting for The Two Towers.

Ok, I'm going back to pondering a beach party before I start bouncing
up and down in my chair.

oh, what the hell. I was at the midnight airing of TPM, I might as well hit the midnight show on this one. I'm in.

If you're referring to the Ain't It Cool article, I'm so there with you. Fighting high levels of excitement, because I don't really want to be let down, but...man. So, yeah, latenight showing, I'm definitely up for it.

And FotR again, damnit!

Oh, I'm so into the beach party, too--I'll even happily help plan, because it means I get ocean, and that always makes me joyful.

In that case, that's at least three of us for
SWII, four expressing an interest in a beach party
and you and I wanting to go see FOTR again (tersa
probably too). Good, good, good.
As for the beach, I'm thinking mid-afternoon-ish
to evening get together. Maybe a campfire and
cookout, kites, frisbees, and frollicking in
the sand. But I have no idea when and a few ideas
where. Any suggestions?

Hmm... three babes going...

Somehow, I think you'll have more company. :)

And I have yet to see the TT trailer, so hopefully I can attend another showing with everyone.

Awright, fanfreaks unite.

Afternoon is good, though I can't promise I won't head out sooner, just because I'm that much of a soggy freak. Somewhere, I have a list of SCruz area beaches, but I only know where a hardcopy is currently, and that's at home. I'll track it down, though, and post suggestions--most of these places I haven't really checked out, but I suppose if someone twisted my arm, I could be convinced to take a weekend day and go adventuring. ^_^ People are welcome to join me, if they can handle my driving.

Perhaps we could bring along our digital cameras,
snap several dozen shots of each and put it to
a vote?

Oooh, that's a splendid idea. Not that I wouldn't be taking tons of shots of the ocean anyway (I should really get those 80-odd pictures from Monterey uploaded), but hey. And I fancy myself a good nature photographer, so will be quite happy to set up lots of shots. ++digital camera

Looking at my schedule--I think I've got the 14th (next Sunday) free, and there's actually nothing pencilled in for either weekend after that, though I can't be sure with playoffs coming up. What works for you?

I currently have nothing going on next Sunday either so that would work beautifully for me,
or the Sunday after if you'd prefer.

Sweet. Let's say the 14th, then; I'll do some prep during the week, figure out the best plan of attack to check all of these places out, and we can schedule more specifically then.

Oooh, yes! It should probably be back up in this area, so there won't be latenightdriving on 17, but I bet we could swing that. You up for starting relatively early in the morning (9-10ish)?

I am completely game for that, 9 would be fine.
Drop me an email sometime next week with the
details (where to meet, etc.). Roadtrip!

Wait, I just said it.

Natural Bridges

From: [identity profile] eilonwey.livejournal.com
Thought I would offer up a suggestion for you guys - Natural Bridges is a nice beach in Santa Cruz. There's a sand area and a rocky tide pool area. Bring along hiking shoes if you want to see the tide pools.

You'll regret it. No way in hell am I going to see Episode II no matter what the hype says.

within GL's capabilities to pull off some of the
old magic again, and part of me wants desperately
to believe he will.

I'd feel better about the whole enterprise if Lawrence Kasdan were still involved with the SW films. Having said that, I'm still willing to take the risk.

And also, I didn't say it specifically before, but I'm in for the beach party.

Realist.

There is NO WAY in hell George Lucas can write, direct, and produce his own films. He just shouldn't do it. He shouldn't. Ick ick ick ick.

On a wholly unrelated note: Afghan food this weekend?

you do lemme know what's looking good for you

Catholic Guilt

From: [identity profile] tamago.livejournal.com
I have to see Ep II as soon as I can, because, like a Catholic going to mass once a year, whether I need to or not, there's something duty fulfilling in first nighting a Star Wars movie, even if it does disappoint again.

In the words of Princess Leia, "General, count me in!"
