I'll swallow your soul!

So you know that plan I had for a nice relaxing weekend? The one that involved lying around and being slug-like. Yeah, that plan. Well, uh, it didn't quite work out the way I'd planned. On the other hand
aelfsciene and I now have a fully functional front living room.
See it went a little something like this, up fairly early on Saturday to accompany
tersa on a bead shopping extravaganza. Aelf splurged on beading books and we all oggled the pretty sparkly things for a bit. See we're contemplating making our own beaded bra and belt sets, I've even bought a video on the subject to get us started. That was fine, but then we realized how many cool little places there are just a few minutes from our new home and we had to go exploring. Can I just say the Chinese bakery is an evil, evil place? Peanut butter bread..oh my good lord.
On the way home I noticed a yard sale with a couch and loveseat and commented that it would be a good idea to check out how much they wanted for them rather than investing in a very expensive set. So the roomie and I walked over and asked. $25 each. How could we possibly resist? Particularly since the very nice guys offered to bring them over to the house for us. We played around with placing them and realized that it made more sense to rearrange several of the bookcases and put the set in the corner.
Now used furniture comes with certain liabilities, in our case a rather funky smell was the worst one, so we tore the couch and loveseat apart, washed the covers and sprayed the whole thing with Febreeze and Lysol. It also became obvious that we needed slipcovers as the things were a hideous plaid. Jumping into the car we made a Bed, Bath & Beyond run, got two nice indigo colored slipcovers, then picked up some nice area rugs for the front room, new pillows for our couches, and various other odds and ends. We also decided to get the table we'd been oggling earlier in the day. It's a coffee table, but it's huge and in a butcher block style with pull out drawers. It is the perfect gaming table and once we get it refinished in a cherry stain it's going to match the bookcases perfectly. Currently we think we're about one comfy chair away from the perfect entertaining space. Well, ok a chair and a lamp, and maybe another t.v., but still that's a lot closer than we were before.
Sunday we hit the MV farmer's market, and my lavendar lady was nowhere to be seen. That might have been for the best as I doubt I could've resisted her wares and I spent way too much money over the weekend as it was. Aelf picked up some fruit and I couldn't resist a few veggie pastries from the Russian bakery stand. Yum! Then we decided to hit Psychic Eye as I'd never been and we wanted to check for a necklace for my sister. Two ritual oils and a package of purification incense later, I decided penance was in order for my weekend splurge, so while Aelf was out running errands I got some serious yardwork done. Tonight, though, I weedwhack.
Then I got showered and changed and ready for dinner at Menara. I suppose I should be embarassed about going there again so soon but the food is *so* good and the dancing was superb. Una put on one of the best performances I think I've ever seen. I mean we were all just sitting there gaping while she danced. Good lord I worship her! Then home again where we tried out our sofa set and declared them very comfy. *happy sigh*
For some reason, though, I got little to no sleep last night. I stayed awake in bed until about midnight, then woke up several times after that. Perhaps it had a lot to do with Kage feeling a bit clingy (for her) and wanting to spend a lot of time in my bed last night. While it's nice to have another warm body there (ye gods it's been way too long!) I'm not quite used to it I'm afraid. I'm sure I will be in a few months, but for now when she gets on the bed I tend to startle awake. Tonight I pass out early, dammit.

We'll station guards around the house to prevent any
intrusions or extrusions.
(Some comment here about sharing your bed.)
