Who are you, what have you sacrificed?

Just caught possibly the best version of Jesus Christ Superstar I've ever seen on Great Performances. So good in fact that I had to tape it when they replayed it just now. The biggest surprise for me was Rik Mayall (yeah, Rick from the Young Ones) as King Herod. I didn't recognize him at first, but when he launched into, "You are the Christ, you're the great Jesus Christ..." I went, "No way." Yep, it was him and he was just perfect. Even more perfect were Glenn Carter as JC, Jerome Pradon as Judas, Renee Castle as Mary Magdalene and Fred Johanson as Pilate. Mmm...Pilate was tha' yummy.

Heh, now I'm watching Last Exile again and Dio is in a dogfight with Claus and isntead of shooting him down just fucks with his head the whole time. In the words of Mary, "I love him so."

I have that JC on DVD. I forget what the extra features are.

Oooh, they did a sort of making of feature after they played the movie, if there's anything else I'd love to see it.
