My what a lovely weekend, so nice in fact that not even a Monday morning can bring me down!

Friday night didn't go exactly as planned, but despite Kage hiding under the futon and growling for most of it Toast seemed to enjoy himself and absolutely adored romping around the yard. He is an inquisitive little fellow, and *so* much energy! And the lovely [livejournal.com profile] tersa made veggie lasanga which was extremely good, and there were enough leftovers to gobble up most of the weekend. We then watched "Legend of Drunken Master" (not one of Jackie's best efforts) and part of "Last Hurrah for Chivalry". Can I just say that Santa Clara's AT&T Broadband seriously kicks the ass of Moutain View's? Two Action Channels! *bliss*

Saturday was slightly busy, with lots of errands and chores to do, but I had enough time to play a little Half Life with Steve and Patrick and got my rear handed to me repeatedly. Of course it was all made worthwhile when I killed them both within a couple of seconds of one another. And I broke [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene when, after Kage jumped on the keyboard at a bad moment, I cooed, "No, no, dear, you just got mommy killed."

Later Mike came over and attempted to teach me and the housemate a bit about longsword use. I'm used to following a teacher and doing what they're doing, where they're placing their feet, hands, etc. This is much harder to do when the teacher is left handed and facing you. Suddenly even simple things become much more complex. Still it was fun and I think both Angie and I are considering taking classes if we can fit them in. Then Mike attempted to show me how to juggle. I was rather hopeless, but I must say it is tempting to get some of the balls and at least give it a try. With a big backyard to practice things in it's awfully tempting.

The evening was curl up in the papasan with a lapful of kitty and talk to John night. I always enjoy talking to him, but I've got to admit, sitting in a papasan with a big fluffy kitty in one's lap makes the experience downright amazing. I just kind of stopped for a second and thought, "Wow, this is just how I imagined life in the house would be, only better." }:)

Yesterday I was incredibly lazy and after a wake up call from Kage at 6:30, I fed her and crawled back into bed. I stayed there until about 11, and felt incredibly self-indulgent for having done so. It was awfully nice, though. Got some more chores and errands done and I picked up some Women's Tylenol which, if I were a gorgeous model/actress type, I would become the spokesperson for. This stuff is amazing, and all the pain and cramps and other nonsense I was afraid was going to ruin my fun at the performance just vanished. I felt *normal* all day and it made me a bit giddy I think.

[livejournal.com profile] esmerel came over a little after 4 and we all got dressed up then practiced a bit. Es and I quickly realized we were hideously underprepared for the recital and frantically went through the routines. Then off we went to the restaurant, which I have to say was rather poorly run and not a very good venue at all. I felt rather guilty for asking everyone to come and realizing that they'd had bad service and weren't at all pleased with the food afterwards. Hopefully seeing us get up and make fools of ourselves in front of a large crowd of people was entertainment enough to make up for it. Hopefully.

I was intensely proud of [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene for getting out there and dancing. Things got a little iffy backstage, but she pulled it together and did an amazing job!

I got to do a little flirting with one of the gals in class and very much enjoyed dancing with her for the improv...*happy sigh*. Though I did discover the bad points about dancing in the back for all the routines. Trying to avoid a table full of people, the stage, and some small children sitting on the floor took up about 90% of my concentration, leaving very little for focusing on the dance itself. I really missed Menara.

I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who came last night, having you all in the audience was what made the experience perfect, despite the little flaws. And I hope your time at the restaurant wasn't too miserable. We will hopefully have some photos to share with you all soon!

Oh, yeah. The quote is "Austin Powers".

"NC-1701. Not bloody, A, B, C, *or* D."

It was worth it to see you three. I was amazed and admiring that aelf went through with it. Actually, I was amazed when she declared her intentions, and admiring when she performed -- there wasn't ever any doubt in my mind that she would follow through.

I've decided...

I like being danced at by women who know how to move. I quite enjoyed the performance, and thought rather highly of the "1" class. Esmerel, ebonlock, and aelf all danced beautifully. Hooray! Caredhel and I quite enjoyed some of the later solos, as well. I actually found the band to be a good volume, not too loud, and their music was pretty cool. I think the fact that the dancers were only about 6 feet from the drums might have altered their perspective.

It sounds as though others didn't enjoy the venue that much. And I can sort of see why, though Caredhel and I enjoyed the food and had good service at our table. There wasn't a lot of room for the dancers, particularly when the whole class tried to get up and do their thing en-masse. I might suggest splitting into smaller groups, if that restaraunt is used again. The waitstaff seemed to enjoy blithely walking in front of the dancers, without so much as a nod of apology. Ah well.

Anyway, I'm quickly becoming an addicted bellyviewer. And Dwarves don't dance.

I'm so glad you guys had a good time, I was fretting about that last night after the performance. I'm afraid our table fared far worse than yours, luckily like the other dancers I didn't order anything and didn't have to deal with them }:)
And don't think Es, Tersa and I have forgotten that we owe you a performance. Last night should have given you a good idea of the kinds of routines we already know. Any of those can easily be dusted off and performed for your amusement.

I wanted to stomp on those little kids. They kept poking and swinging their hands at the dancer's skirts, and took up more room back there than any 6 of us. :)
