I feel a bit like a cheerleader today but I expect I'll be pestering everyone who walks into the office with the question, "You've voted, right?" I'd love to see my comments section fill up with folks chiming in after they vote, if you've got details about how many people were in line or how long a wait, please add 'em! Now if only I had some pom-poms.

BTW, as promised, [livejournal.com profile] elo_sf here's the icon I was talking about:

:)

I don't know how I'm going to focus at work today but I'm going to try, and I'm going to hold tight to my faith. After months of signing petitions, walking in marches, making donations, rabidly combing the internet for news and posting too damn much (yeah, I know, all of you on my political sublist are probably rolling your eyes and laughing, thanks for hanging in there through it) there's little else to be done but wait and see. In the meantime I'm glad I've got class and work to keep me occupied today.

Oh, I also have a new phone, an LG 4015 which is just too HAWT for words, but oh do I ever need better ringtones and a more personalized wallpaper. The tropical ones are ok but I'd much rather have a Hobbit or Remus on there gazing up at me every day. It's working basically today so I'll sit down and play with the personalization later.

And I got the giant project of DOOM done last night. Now I just need to wrap the sucker and that's that. I may do a quick kid's afghan for a coworker before I launch into a boucle afghan for myself, but I'm setting aside the sewing kit for a while and I cannot tell you how happy that makes me.

I voted! woo! I got to use the new electronic system and it was pretty cool. I didn't have to wait very long, even though I got there at 8:30 (I thought there'd be a rush at that time). no matter the outcome, I'm proud to be an American today.

Sweet! No problem with the machines in your area then? That's what I like to hear. And I know what you mean, I felt intensely patriotic as I filled in my absentee ballot, like I'd helped make a change for the better. And in all the years I've been voting this is the one I've felt the most strongly about, and the most like I have a real power to make a difference, you know?

16 years ago on this day I voted for Clinton. I was soooo excited that day and even moreso as I watched the returns that night. tonight I have to work until 10pm or so, I won't get to watch until later. I'm praying that Kerry will have a hefty lead by the time I get to a television.
