I'm feeling much calmer today, I spent a few hours yesterday just doing research on my new enemy online and realized that the problem isn't quite as bad as I'd thought. The kind of roaches I saw (American Cockroaches) probably haven't nested in the house, rather, are coming in foraging for food or water. The bait traps I have are a great choice according to what I've read, and Boric acid would be another good method of dealing with them that doesn't involve strong, harmful chemicals. We need to spend a little time this weekend filling in some holes from the garage and making sure we keep the place clean and dry as much as possible and we should be ok.

Of course if I see lots more of them that's when we get the professionals in.

Another level of defense is the kitty I'll be picking up at lunchtime today. I'm sort of inheriting it from a friend of my friend Steve. She's an older black cat, supposedly very mild mannered and calm. If she turns out to be a good hunter as well I'm going to be absolutely blissful. It'll just be nice to have a feline presence around the place, the house just hasn't felt right without one. Of course I also meant to do a blessing on the place at some point last weekend and just ran out of time/energy. Hopefully I'll manage it this weekend.

Which reminds me, I've got to stop booking myself so thoroughly. I have part of Friday evening free, that's it for the week. It was nice getting a little time to just kind of sit and be last night after Tai Chi. I even got some more sewing done on my new veil (not enough to use it tonight, alas), and watched a little t.v. It was...nice. I should do that more often.

I love overbooking myself, do it constantly, but that was how I came down with Shingles and I'd really rather not do that to myself again. I like health, it's nice. So, time to relax and make a little time for me again. At least until my family gets here on the 10th. }:)

You get the gold star today, and thank you for the congrats, I'm very pleased to be adding a cat to the household. Oh, and I'm not actually handling reservations for this weekend, you might want to talk to tersa or mallen about that. However, I did put you down for Menara on the 10th. If this was an error let me know and I'll call back and change the reservation.

Oh good, the evening wouldn't be complete without you, dear!

Boric acid

Boric acid is supposed to work. The Berkeley ants defy it. Don't be surprised if the roaches do, too.

According to what I read the way it's used is as important as the stuff itself. You have to use the lightest dusting possible, barely or not even visible, and it must be in their path, otherwise it's no use at all.

That still only thins the herd up here. I'm not saying don't try it, I'm just saying don't be shocked if it fails.

You know Egon, this reminds me of the time you tried to drill a hole through your head.

Yay kitty!

Yeah, I'm leaving in about an hour and a half to go pick it up and bring it home, hope the kitty and we get along well.

Er, you. Whatever.

With my whole self being terrified at the idea of mono right now, I'm stopping with the overbooking posthaste. Not that, er, I've got much time to myself this week, but it's the thought that counts, right?

I'm up in the 'oh my god, am I really going to do this?' area of nervousness about Sunday. We'll see how I feel after full dress tonight.

You'll be fine, remember it's fun and exciting as well as scary. And the scary stuff in life is often the stuff that's most worth doing, you know?

Yeah, point. I'm just not feeling very adventurous right now. More like curling up somewhere and hiding from the world. If I can just feel better about my job, I'm sure this'll pass, but I'm having problems focusing, and that's no good. Maybe I'll fret about this more than dancing, though, and just breeze through the performance. Mmm, right.

I've found that dancing is good for taking the mind off many things. :) It doesn't necessarily require *thought*, but it does require *concentration*. And honestly, you're gonna look better than several people out there, because YOU will have an outfit, and look like you belong doing this!

Besides, I brought the huge gypsy outfit today, so you have to go.

She did do the gypsy outfit, it really is only fair that you dance now }:)

Besides you only have to do one choreography and improv, Lynette and I have to do 4 choreographies!
Oy, my achin' muscles.

Yay cat!

According to Feng Shui, cats are good for increasing ki flow in the house.

I find that they're also good at distributing their own shedding hair.

Hopefully, they'll be equally good repelling the various infestations. Spiders also make good toys... if it tries to skitter away, it's fun...

Alas I must wait one more day for the cat as my friend forgot he had a previous engagement today. Ah well, tomorrow's better anyway.

Isn't that about the midpoint between solstice and equinox? (it's like Lammas-eve, isn't it?)

I believe so, though I'm dreadfully behind on my holidays this year. Even though I can actually plan something rather elaborate for the backyard this time!

Hmm, that's tempting, let me see how much I can get accomplished before then as Friday night was "work on the yard" night. }:)
