Watched part of the Star Wars special on A&E last night before turning the VCR on to catch the rest and taking myself to bed. It was great getting a glimpse behind the scenes and the raw footage was just incredible. I loved hearing the original audio tracks, particularly of David Prowse as Darth Vader, and getting to see how much the music of John Williams really made Star Wars the classic that it is.

On the downside it made me want to kick Harrison Ford in the head yet again. Yeah, yeah, we all know that you just saw the film series as a stepping stone to do "real" movies. You're an ACTOR and the films are so beneath you. Whatever, asshole.

Watching the crowds and the reaction to the film just after it was released really sparked some memories for me as well. Yeah, I'm old enough to have seen it in the movie theater when it first came out. I remember vividly that I hadn't wanted to see it (I was a Benji addict at the time), but came out of the theater with a brand new religion. I can even remember playing X Wing fighter pilots with my sister in the backseat of our parents' car on the drive home. And I'm firmly convinced that it was this film that changed the course of my life and turned me into the unrepentant fangirl geek that I am today.

I really need a Luke icon...

Anyway, I feel wrung out despite having a pretty quiet weekend. This bone-deep weariness is just awful, I almost dislike it more than being actively ill. At least with the latter you know it's going to end. With this, I'm just baffled. I start to think I'm getting over it then a wave of fatigue hits me and I keel over. It's just pathetic.

I must apologize to [livejournal.com profile] elo_sf for missing his shindig Saturday night. I'd been feeling fine most of the day and then later that afternoon just could not move. I got nothing accomplished except being relatively fetal from that point on.

Yesterday was mostly ok and I finished putting coins on my bra (yay) though I didn't get too far on my belt (boo). I need to get the basics done on the belt tonight because that only leaves me Wednesday night to fuss with it before the dress rehearsals on Friday. If anyone has any spare fingers to cross I could use all the good luck I can get right now, both costume and healthwise.

Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper

The more Asian movies I watch the more I see the basis for how I judge movies and Star Wars was a fantastic mix of old serial pictures (music being operatic) and Samurai movie. Maybe the reason I am attracted to so much HK stuff, is starting young with SW, well that and afternoons spent watching shaw brothers.
I think that H Ford is what makes the SW series move and breathe, he wasn't the only one not to take it as an acting opportunity Sir Alec only would do it with back end points which turned out OK for him, but actors play roles, people do jobs and sometimes a job is just a job and a role becomes a cultural icon, these are the days of our lives, well at least the action figures of our lives.

Like Harrison Ford can judge, he was in Hollywood Homicide! Sure, that really stayed in the public's mind! Now I love the Han and I worship the Indy but yeah, he's dating Calista Flockheart so he's not a brain surgeon. So glad to see you back amongst the living again! I think John and I will be catching a viewing of HERO this week....very excited!!!

Every time I see Harrison I remember Julie Brown doing Madonna, "There goes acting man off on another acting adventure!" :) And Calista Flockheart? :P

Oh my God, I always find myself quoting that and no one ever gets it. Well that and the "Ride the Snake" SNL Jim Carrey / Will Farrell skit. I tell ya, people need to be more pop culture literate sometimes.
