I am a wimp
Sep. 1st, 2004 08:27 amThere, I said it and I feel better for it. I'm not proud of the fact, but I can, at least, accept it. Yes, I skipped dance class last night and vegetated instead.
Ok, let me expand on that slightly, for me vegging consists of getting my oil changed (and Jiffy Lube does a spectacular job, even vacuumed out my car), stopping at the bank for quarters (yay laundry!), doing said laundry, cleaning my bathroom, doing the dishes that have been accumulating and tidying up the living room. Oh, and I got a little writing done too. But I was still in bed by 9 p.m. so I got sufficient sleep for the third night running.
The verdict seems to be that while I'm still running at about 75%, this is a definite improvement. The coughing and sore throat are not so great, but I can cope with them. Another good night's sleep tonight should (hopefully) do the trick. Then class Thursday, gaming Friday (where I hope to finish covering my bra) and class Saturday (along with a myriad of errands), performance Sunday...and nothing so far for Monday. If Monday remains free I may steam clean my carpets, so if anyone would like to save me from such a fate please feel free to suggest an alternative.
Oh and before I forget (again) the new HK film I've been seeing ads for and looking forward to catching when it's released later this month is "Warriors of Heaven and Earth". I'm prepared to swear I saw it in VCD format the last time I was up in Chinatown so I could probably just go get my own copy but it'd be cool to see it on the big screen. Two films I really need to see, though, are "Hero" (huuuuuge) and "AvP". Maybe Monday will be devoted to a matinee of one of the two. Hmm, this plan has definite merit...

Date: 2004-09-01 08:40 am (UTC)Huh. I think I saw a teaser for this a loooooooooooooooong time ago; I figured I'd just missed it out in the theater, or confused it with Hero. Interesting that the ads have popped up again.

Date: 2004-09-01 08:48 am (UTC)As with many HK releases we get it here in the states way after everyone else in the world does. Of course it's nice that we get them at all now.

Date: 2004-09-01 08:49 am (UTC)Hm, I don't know, but I can check on that. I know it should be playing at an IMAX. :)

Date: 2004-09-01 04:44 pm (UTC)WHERE? WHERE? MONDAY. WE'RE ON.
(Oh. I'm trading the loan of a copy of Hero to a coworker for the loan of a copy of AvP so you don't have to actually pay money to see it if you don't want to.)

Hrm, well not at the Metreon apparently as HP and SM are still listed in the IMAX there. Will check on this.

Oh dude, sweet! We should wait until Aelf is back, make some nice strong mixed drinks and settle in for a good old fashioned MST-fest.

Date: 2004-09-01 06:47 pm (UTC)Dang. Well, even if it's just on a regular screen I wouldn't mind seeing it as I've never seen it on anything bigger than a 27" t.v. :)
oh, hell yeah
Date: 2004-09-03 12:18 am (UTC)I recently learned that my copy of Hero doesn't subtitle the text at the beginning and the end, so when the Normands (the family I moved in with) watched it, they were very confused by the ending. I'd probably want to buy a US copy of the dvd anyway (as long as it's subtitled), but this determines that I definitely will.
Also, on a not-really-related note, Daily Show has been excellent all week, and I've really missed watching it with you. ^_^

Date: 2004-09-03 08:46 am (UTC)We're thinking Monday matinee (maybe two-ish), and you can even pick the theater :)

Weird...huh...I'm pretty sure my copy has the subtitling at both beginning and end, but I should check that.

Oh me too! I keep bawling with laughter and the cats just give me funny looks ;) I haven't had a chance to watch last night's repeat yet, but I heard it was hilarious.
Which IMAX?

Date: 2004-09-01 08:50 am (UTC)I am allowed every year or so to actually catch up on sleep and feel like a normal, functioning member of the human race again.

Hmm, maybe I'll stick with Hero then, I know it's superb. And go see it, btw, seriously, it is jaw-droppingly gorgeous and without a doubt Jet Li's best film ever.

Date: 2004-09-01 09:09 am (UTC)My favorite part is the girl fight in the forest, I've watched that scene alone nearly a dozen times. I'll be interested to hear which scene you liked best.
