So I think all told I managed about 3 hours of sleep last night by passing out at random moments between Pye's grand mal freakouts. Aelf, remember what it was like when we first got him and I tried to get him to sleep in my bedroom? Ok, that was last night. Finally I had to take off his collar because the combination of bell and yowling was just too much. The worst was from 2:30 to 5:30 or so, with me getting up every half an hour to show him the window he could perch in and pet and calm him. By 5:30 he seemed to have settled down a bit and went off somewhere to take a nap. By this time, of course, I had to get up in an hour so...

I do now know, however, that our sprinkler system (just outside my bedroom window) comes on at 2:30 and 4:30 a.m. Not that I really wanted to know that, but there you are. Kage followed me around nervously all night and would not leave the bed as long as I was on it. She actually sat outside the bathroom door this morning while I got dressed mewling pitifully. By the time I got out she decided that her day was best spent back under the bed. Pye on the other hand was busily exploring and seems to think my big walk in closet is really super cool.

And did I mention that Kage has decided Pye can't get within ten feet of either her or me? This makes life a wee bit difficult as, again, my apartment is tiny.

On the plus side I have a 4 mile commute in the morning, sweet!

Weekend..um, lemme think, sorry brain is very fuzzy today. Friday night was gaming wherein all of our characters got blowed up real good and Hav was not allowed to put an ax in the bad guy :( Saturday was some moving stuff and then off to [livejournal.com profile] tamago's bash where I got to wear my super cool Indian skirt and dance to a Bollywood number.

Sunday started out much too early (7:15 to be precise) and the movers arrived much too late (1:30 to be precise). On the plus side the main guy was really nice and chatty and seemed to know what he was doing. His two henchmen, however, were total mooks and ignored every single thing I said to them. They managed to bring Aelf's suitcase (empty) to the apartment but leave my rowing machine behind *sigh*. The main guy also commented that mine was the easiest move he'd ever done, which made me feel all proud and well organized.

After a few more runs I stopped at the grocery store for necessities and then we brought the cats to the new place. Suffice to say they both sang several refrains of the "Trauma Kitty" song and promptly ran under the bed. I took a quick shower and then treated Aelf to a viewing of Spider-man 2.

I was a little afraid going into it that my current film cynicism was going to color my reaction to the movie. I mean pretty much everything I've seen recently besides HP:PoA has been utter crap, or at least I've thought so. Fortunately SM2 is, indeed, the best superhero film to date and this coming from a Nightcrawler fanatic who adored XM2.

The character development was delightful, as was the constant montage of "Peter Parker's life blows big time". The emotional fallout from the first film was still going strong and it made for some truly great moments in this one. Doc Oc was actually both scary and pretty damn sympathetic (in a way I don't believe Green Goblin ever was), and the set up for Hobgoblin in the next film was quite nicely done.

There were some great little moments, like Bruce Campbell's cameo (even better than the first film!) and the operating room bit with the saw (the only thing that could've made that better was if B.C. was playing the doctor in question). Spotted Stan Lee easily, though no Lucy this time that I could see :(

The best part to me, though, was the train sequence, it had an emotional wallop that most battles lack. Peter is forced to remove his mask (it gets damaged and he can't see) and try to stop a speeding train before everyone on it plummets to their death. He manages it, of course, though he nearly kills himself in the process, and before he can tumble off the passengers and conductor pull him aboard carefully. One man mumbles, "He's just a kid. I've got a son his age." The sheer humanity of the moment almost makes you forget this is a comic book movie. And the courage and kindness of the New Yorkers made me a bit misty-eyed. Yeah, that's the true spirit of New York right there.

Tons of reveals in this film (does anybody except Jameson not know that Peter is Spidey at this point?) and all were handled beautifully. The only part that kind of pissed me off was M.J. getting almost all the way to the altar with Jameson's son before realizing she can't go through with it. Of course it made for some serious drama, but jeez, girl. On the other hand the final bit where she tells Peter she'll make up her own mind about who she wants to be with, thank you very much, kinda made up for it. Though I longed for her to say, "Um, hon, I know you think you're being all noble to protect me, but we haven't been dating in the past two years and I've been in danger already how many times?" And when she sends him off to go do his web crawling thing I would've paid good money for her to follow up with, "And when you get back I'm going to peel that costume off of you...with my teeth."

Only one brief shirtless Tobey scene, but on the whole this movie gets two thumbs way up from me.

And now I'm going to try to accomplish something productive while in a half zombie-like state. May try to leave early so I can go home and maybe pass out for a bit. That sounds very nice.

I admit I'd hoped that Pye would just stay under your bed all night, cowering, and also that the whole ordeal would forge some sort of peace between him and Kage. Sorry to hear I was oh, so wrong.

Last night was weird, weird, this morning even moreso. I kept expecting to hear Pye's bell and to see him trotting around a corner at me, and barely caught myself before saying "Hi kids, I'm home" when getting back from errands this afternoon.

Miss all three of you, hope this evening's going better than last night.

Actually last night was wonderful, the trick seems to be passing out on the futon in the living room. Once I put the fuzzy purple blanket on the papasan Kage said, "Well I don't need *you* any more, monkey." and curled up on it for most of the night. I cleared the space to Pye's cat condo and he spent most of the night up there. I woke up twice with Pye curled up next to me and Kage climbing up to the top of the boxes and onto the empty book shelves. Weird.

This morning Kage went in and got on my bed and Pye was in the front window, all offended 'cause the neighbors directly across have a gray cat that got up in *their* window. Pye wanted to kick its ass :)

Both are eating normally again, I was a little concerned to see both bowls full when I got home yesterday. The only thing is now they can't seem to decide which bowl they want to eat from so they're eating from both. As it's the same food I can't see that it makes a difference.

Ah, glad you've learned the trick so quickly! Sounds like life will be interesting in your new place, if nothing else, between greycat and territory squabbles and all. And hey, it's not like it matters who's eating what at this point; it's always been impossible to keep them out of each other's bowls, I'd imagine even moreso when they're in the same room.
