Yeah, so I knew the film was going to be bad, but how could I possibly know it was going to be this bad? I kept slumping further into my seat and face palmed about two dozen times; considered just leaving once or twice but I'd paid for it and I was staying, dammit. Though if they'd made up one more goofy planet name I don't think any power on Earth could've kept me in that seat.

Ok, sure, Vin looked fine in the film and Riddick is still the biggest badass of them all. No complaints there. Though, while he ended up in bondage a number of times he never got the bit, which made me sad. Karl Urban was all broody and yummy, though way over dressed (why can the bad guys never choose a simple loincloth for their minions?), and dude what was up with that hair? I think that's why he looked so pissy. Didn't think much of the new "Jack" (I refuse to call her Kira) except that she was an impressively developed 17 year old. And Judy Densch...well, I just felt hideously embarassed for her for having to say the word "necromonger" if nothing else.

There were some interesting and cool visuals and a few moments that were quite enjoyable (see the subject line for the best one). But other than that... Well it didn't give me a migraine like Fast and Furious did, so that's something. And the image of Riddick in the "daddy chair" at the end made me giggle a lot.

I dearly hope [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda does a 15 Minute version of this one, only she can make it better for me now. I think Aelf was a bit more offended than I (hell I'd expected atrocious and the film certainly lived up to that), and kept wondering why it had been made in the first place. I simply replied, "Well that crack money doesn't just make itself you know."

Ahem, anyway, I need to go see Prisoner of Azkaban again to wash the taste of TCoR out of my mind, perhaps I'll be able to squeeze it in next weekend.

I now know of 4 other people with the same birthday as myself, oh wait, according to my calendar it's also the Queen's birthday. Rock on! I'll start telling people that instead of Flag Day from now on :)

Mucho packing completed this weekend. I'd say I'm about 75% done at this point and have yanked a good deal of stuff for charity/yard sale/Book Buyers, go me! Although if I get one more gift from someone and the card contains the phrase, "I know you asked me not to get you anything you'd have to pack, but..." I'm going to scream. My youngest sis sent a box that I received on Saturday. Aelf and I tore into it that night and there were gorgeous goodies for both of us. She now has her sparkly disco Pip, and squealed with delight over it. I got a hand decorated Hobbity journal and the coolest pens, decorator paper and odd little bits and bobs as well as a couple of new mixes, hooray! We spent much time showing each other what we'd received and making crafty plans for what to do with it. Though reading the notes my sis had written in the journals she made up for us was probably our favorite bit. We were laughing so hard we could barely breathe.

Sunday consisted of more packing, a little crafting, and a birthday dinner for [livejournal.com profile] silkblade which was very nice indeed. I was very naughty and had ravioli and then a chocolatey/espresso-y drink from Double Rainbow (mmm). The scale was so not my friend this morning. Still, I've got class tomorrow night and if I can get some time in on the rowing machine tonight, perhaps Wednesday and Thursday plus some this weekend, I'll feel better I'm sure.

Wow. I'd started seeing people say 'It's not great, but it wasn't awful' and figured you would be in a similar camp. I'm really surprised (but sorry!) you didn't like it.

I won't be getting you a gift you'll have to pack! I'll wait until after you've moved. :) But happy birthday!
