Sep. 25th, 2011 05:01 pmWow have I really not posted in a month? Freaky. Anyway life's been busy with putting together a set of dances for a 15 minute choreography to be performed in October. Then teaching my dance partner said choreography. We still have a few weeks to nail it down but it's been a lot of work and pretty much daily practice. I've been getting back into yoga as well which is helping with the strength and flexibility issues and helping me get my endurance up to snuff.
While I gave up officially on True Blood this season I did stumble upon some diamonds in the rough on tv of late that I thought I'd share. Still loving Alphas, the season has increased in intensity and quality and the last couple of episodes have left me having to remind myself to breathe from time to time. Hope it gets renewed for a second season because it's definitely worth it. Caught the first episode of Person of Interest and am intrigued enough to tune in for another. The concept is at least broad enough to encompass a lot of interesting story lines and I want to learn more about Mr. Finch. Finally I stumbled upon a fascinating little horror/fantasy series from the BBC called The Fades. The basic plot is similar to a couple of anime shows I've seen, starting with "Bleach" and moving on through "Death Note", but it isn't derivative from what I can tell. Yeah there is a bit of "magical boy" syndrome in it but look beyond that and you'll find an interesting concept (some of the dead can't pass over to the other side and become trapped here - think hungry ghosts - then going insane and hateful, one has managed to cross at least partially back into the living world and if it succeeds and leads the others across the world as we know it will end). Pluses beyond that include a hilarious best friend to our young hero, a tough but heart-of-gold mentor who takes him under his wing, the adorable semi-Gothy girl he's got a crush on, and the horrific ash-filled future that awaits if our rag-tag team fails.
Other than that just counting down the days until I get to see Elbow live...
