May. 9th, 2010 05:22 pmReal quick update because this weekend has been nutty-busy. First Iron Man 2 gets a big thumb's up from me. It's not perfect by any means but is, I would argue, just as enjoyable as the first. RDJ continues to just own the role of Tony Stark, getting to see more of Jon Favreau as "Happy" was nice too, and of course Scarlett Johanssen as Black Widow is a pretty big selling point all on her own. Hell, her just standing around in some of those costumes is probably worth the price of admission.
Second, I officially gave up on the latest incarnation of Dr. Who this weekend. I'm sorry but I can't get past the fact that I think he's a complete dick and god how I loathe his companion. Seriously, she's starting to make me think back fondly on Martha. Martha for god's sake! And don't even get me started on the plots. How Moffat managed to make me laugh at one of the best baddies he ever created because he just didn't understand on a fundamental level what had made them scary in the first place. Then the best NPC he came up with last season (who I'd originally loved) he bungled so badly I loathed her by the end of the episode.
I have way better ways to spend an hour of my time, thanks.
Aside from that just lots of running around and taking care of some stuff that had been building up for a while. One of these days I'm going to have a sit down and veg style weekend with absolutely no plans or chores to do and I'm just not going to know what to do with myself. I expect if that should ever happen the cats would conspire, as they always do, to create some work for me. *sigh*
