Dec. 27th, 2009 04:50 pmDespite what feels rather like the beginning of a sinus infection, I managed to accomplish quite a bit this long weekend. Lots of hosting, including Xmas day and yesterday a bunch of us got together to get caught up on Dr. Who before watching part one of The End of Time. I found the latest Dr. Who episodes very...interesting. I may post a more in depth review when my head's not aching quite so badly.
Xmas was spent cooking and watching holiday shows/movies.
cyranocyrano brought along "The Ref" which was surprisingly fun. We feasted and snacked most of the day and after the videos switched to Beatles Rock Band.
tersa set it up for story mode and we actually played it from beginning to end in one go. I sang lead with
aelfsciene, which was an interesting team effort. I know all the songs and lyrics but can't sing, Aelf doesn't know most of the songs but can sing so we sort of balanced each other out. We also downloaded "Norwegian Wood" and "Run for Your Life" to play for fun. There are still a lot of songs I'd love to do, notably "Ob-la-di Ob-la-da", "Yer Blues", "I'm so Tired", and "Because". Well, I'd probably like to listen to a couple of people who could sing do "Because" anyway. I'd undoubtedly make a hash of it.
What else? Ah well my sisters gave me a couple of gift cards and I used one to buy a neat little chest of drawers to keep my crafting supplies in. The other will go to curtains so I can finally, finally get rid of the hideous pink blinds. Hallelujah.
On the kitty front the newest addition has been making her presence felt. She's now actively approaching me for love and food and is also happily playing with me. I've started leaving the guest room door open when I'm home so she can wander out as it pleases her. She's got both Pye and Lola thoroughly terrified. She's maybe half their sizes but has absolutely no fear of either of them. She's a feisty little thing.
As a lot of folks seemed to think that "Eight" was a perfectly good name for her I mentioned it to Aelf and she said, "Why not go with 'Hachi'? It's eight in Japanese." Cute, catchy, meaningful and the kitten actually seems to almost respond to it. I think we may have a winner.
