Sep. 2nd, 2008 09:10 pmI think I have a new favorite tv series: Surviving History
On tonight's episode they re-created the Halifax Gibbet and Chinese Water Torture devices. And they bring in historians to give context on the devices too, so it's not just cool torture/execution devices being re-created, but info on their use. The poor bastard who volunteered to do the Chinese Water Torture had some interesting things to say about why it's effecting. The psychological and physiological changes to the body are just fascinating. And did you know it was used in Tunisia as recently as 1998?
Oh the history geeking going on in my apartment right now is downright terrifying...
