I have to admit that so far the free version of LJ is not bugging me nearly as much as I thought it would. And I'm finding life with fewer icons to be a pretty painless transition so yay, and again, yay.

Heroes continues to annoy me, though at least it was in mostly different ways last night. )

I dunno', but this may just be the most retarded thing I have ever read in my life:

David Frum: You’ve just heard from people who think the key to human survival is to cut ourselves off from the world economy and buy and sell only in local markets. This approach has been tried before — in Europe, after the fall of the Roman Empire. We call this period the Dark Ages.

I would just like to say that as someone who actually studied the period (and was the class darling of the most kick-ass medievalist in the world) that this statement by Frum is either breathtakingly ignorant or a very conscious and blatant lie. Of course what else would one expect from the mouthpiece of AEI? But wait, it gets better:

Virtually every lake and river in the United States is cleaner than it was a generation ago. Ditto the air in any major city.

Uh, huh...

Hold it, here's the money shot:

Yet some worry it cannot continue — that we’ll pollute ourselves to death or run out of resources. These worries ignore both evidence and history. Human ingenuity creates resources as fast as we consume them.

Did you hear that? That was the sound of my head exploding...
