Is there life on Mars?
Apr. 14th, 2007 07:25 pmSo I just watched the final episode of the most brilliant show ever aired and I did two things that I've never done before. One was pausing the episode every few minutes and getting up to go do something because I couldn't bear for the episode to end. I kept putting off the acknowledgement that when it was over that was it, no more to watch. The other thing I did was, as the credits rolled, I actually started applauding. I mean sitting here in my living room watching the ep on my laptop and I'm clapping like a mad woman.
I know, I know, everybody's sick to death of me talking about this show but it's damn near a religious experience. You just don't get this level of creativity, writing, acting and overall production pretty much ever. And it's not just 'cause I pretty much predicted exactly what was going to happen, what was going on, and what Sam would ultimately choose to do. And it's also not only because it reminded me strongly of what I continue to feel is the most brilliant fantasy series ever written (the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever). This show is just about as perfect as any creative endeavor possibly could be, and I don't say that lightly.
And now I'm going to burn
cyranocyrano and
moonlightnrain copies of the final two episodes then start copying series one for my family back east. I've already talked my mom and sis into watching it. Anybody else who needs 'em, comment me.
