Stolen shamelessly from [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano and [livejournal.com profile] windrose:

My Peculiar Aristocratic Title is:
Reverend Countess Ebonlock the Lachrymose of Lesser Cheese Winston
Get your Peculiar Aristocratic Title

Heh, cheese. I suspect I'm either a widow or a goth what with being all lachrymose, neither outcome would displease me in this case.

So Pye and Kage conspired to keep me awake pretty much from 3 a.m. on, so if I'm a little brain dead today, please forgive me. Just overlook typos or strange non-sequitors and expect me to have a somewhat functional mind again tomorrow.

And after watching last night's Daily Show and their holiday edition of "10 Fucking Years", I really need a pic of Stephen Colbert after he's blown out the Menorah that simply reads, "I wished for a pony!" It's wrong but it'd make a helluva great holiday icon. Also want one of the "Catastrafuck" symbol they came up with.

How do you spell self loathing? M-A-R-Y-G-R-A-B-A-R, apparently:

After watching The View and following the inane statements made on the program, I’ve come to the conclusion that it really is true what Aristotle, Saint Paul, and John Milton said: Women, without male guidance, are illogical, frivolous, and incapable of making any decisions beyond what to make for dinner.

Not sure what I can add to that except, wow...Although one wonders that the men over at Townhall let her leave the kitchen long enough to write the piece. I mean those sandwiches don't make themselves.

And Billmon notes that Rich Lowry has finally joined the other rats and leapt from the sinking ship that is the Grand Iraq Experiment:

In their distrust of the mainstream media, their defensiveness over President Bush and the war, and their understandable urge to buck up the nation’s will, many conservatives lost touch with reality on Iraq. They thought that they were contributing to our success, but they were only helping to forestall a cold look at conditions there and the change in strategy and tactics that would be dictated by it.

It is time to say it unequivocally: We are winning in Iraq . . . Even as there has been a steady diet of bad news about Iraq in the media over the last year, even as some hawks have bailed on the war in despair, even as Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld has become everyone's whipping boy, the U.S. military has been regaining the strategic upper hand.

The times, they are a-changin', for sure. But it's nice to see that even the most bat-shit of the wingnut clan can actually take note of and respond rationally to reality from time to time. It almost gives me a little hope for the future of our country again.

Book 7?

My sis just sent me this and I'm not sure what to make of it:

Scholastic's placeholder jacket.

On Thursday morning J.K. Rowling announced to the world, via an elaborate game on her Web site, the title for her seventh and final Harry Potter book. It will be called Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. She also updated fans about her progress on the book, saying she is hard at work writing scenes that she has had planned for a dozen years or more. "I am alternately elated and overwrought," she writes. "I both want, and don't want, to finish this book (don't worry, I will)."

Seems a reasonable enough title, but I haven't personally visited Rowling's site so I can't confirm that it came from there. Will try and check into this further today...

Rock it

My friend J-'s band, "Beauty School Outlaws" has a MySpace page you should check out:

Be sure to check out the photos, trying to actually see J- on the drums is a little like playing "Where's Waldo?" ;)
