cyranocyrano just sent it to me and I am way too amused by it. If you watch Lost, go check out the Oceanic-Air seating chart. Some people have way too much time on their hands :)
So 3 of us turned out for the costume meeting at K-'s place last night, just 3. We figure that means we get to make all the executive decisions regarding our next troupe costumes (it's only fair) and since we're arguably the best at sewing in the troupe the others will need our help and therefore probably won't bitch too much about what we come up with. We scrapped the pearl idea entirely, as J- pointed out it was just looking too damn "vanilla" and it worked with almost nothing else we wanted to do color-wise. Then I brought up those incredible fabric covered bras that all the cool tribal chicks get to wear and wondered if we couldn't do something similar that would be tweaked just enough to make it cabaret-ish. Then we found this half skirt design and all fell madly in love with that (J- defined it exceedingly well, saying if we did it it should look like some tropical bird's tail flying out behind us, I love that imagery). Then we thought it'd be incredibly fun if each bra was designed by the person wearing it, so each was unique while the rest of the costume stuck to a troupe standard. I mentioned we could create a grab bag of doo-dads for people to add to their bras if they were stuck and J- and K- loved the idea.
The moral of the story is, if you want a say in the costumes show up for the damn meetings.
I think J- and I can whip up some models before next week's meeting (if anyone shows up), and the idea of going out shopping for doo-dads to add to my own is making me intensely happy. I've also found a use for all those odd fat quarters I've been collecting with no real idea in mind for a quilt. They'll be more than enough fabric to cover the cups of a bra. Woo!
Oh and before I forget, I agreed to make a Natacha Atlas mega-mix for a troupemate who fell in love with the stuff I played her the other night. If anyone else would be interested lemme know.
