Why is it that Sunday nights the cats seem to go a bit haywire and feel impelled, nay, commanded by some dark force to keep me awake for as much of the night as possible? I got my two a.m. wake up call from Pye freaking out in the window and my five a.m. wake up call from Kage hacking up a hairball right next to my bed. Fortunately it was on the throw rug so I didn't feel impelled to do something about it immediately. However, I did get up long enough to remove all feline presences from my sleep chamber and keep them out before attempting to drop back off to sleep. I'm at work today, but it was a near thing, lemme tell ya.

Had a good, busy, fun weekend. The baby shower was a rousing success, though I felt like I had very little to do with that. E-'s family is just amazing and we adored everyone. The troupe was welcomed in with open arms and both gifts and food were plentiful. I felt a bit guilty about receiving a huge thank you gift for basically putting an Evite together. I'll have to send E- and her mom a thank you note for that and for being such excellent hosts. Everything ran late (of course) and we ended up zooming home and changing before throwing more stuff in the car and taking off for [livejournal.com profile] tamago and [livejournal.com profile] jimweasel's little Bollywood get together. "Main Hoon Na" was a lot of fun and one Bollywood flick I will probably have to own. It didn't take itself terribly seriously, made gratuitous use of cliches, allowed Shahrukh to mug adorably and chew the scenery as he pleased, and had a bunch of kick ass musical numbers. I can really see why it was such a big hit.

Got home late and I was too exhausted to do my ab routine so I took the night off an passed out. Sunday was chores, chores, and more chores, plus a few errands. Finally got to the library, did my grocery shopping, dropped some stuff off at Goodwill and filled my car up. Then home to care for the kitties (both sets), clean out 4 litter boxes (I'm glad I only have to do that twice before the neighbor gets back from Europe), then did a load of laundry and general tidying. I even found time to just sit back and relax with one of my newly acquired books for a few hours. Amazing!

Tonight and tomorrow I'm hoping to finish up the Cupid episodes, keep your fingers crossed.

This game amuses me greatly:
King of the Planet

Pick a cute little anime animal, choose fighting skills and so on, then watch him kick the crap out of other cute little anime animals. I chose the monkey in a hockey mask with red eyes and a spiked mace tail. His victory cry, "Don't say monkey!"

Teens seek debate vs. Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh said on his nationally syndicated radio show that Evanston Township High School students "don't know anything about World War II" and "they've probably never heard the name Adolf Hitler" because they're so focused on a multicultural curriculum.

Some Evanston kids want to show Limbaugh what they know. They want to debate him on American history.

"I think [a debate] would be great because then we'd prove him wrong and open up his opinion a little bit," Sarah Loeb, an ETHS sophomore, said Thursday.

"What multiculturalists is, is balkanizing this country," Limbaugh said Tuesday. "People are coming here from various parts of the world and they're bringing their cultures with them and the multiculturalists are saying 'your culture is better than the American culture. The American culture is discriminatory, it's racist, sexist, bigot, homophobic.' "

Limbaugh's producer did not return a call on whether Limbaugh would agree to a debate.

"Maybe he might be a little intimidated because I don't know his basis for saying we don't know anything," Sarah said. "But I think he might be interested if he wants to live up to his reputation and back up his ideas so he doesn't look stupid."

"It's funny to me that someone would say we don't know about World War II -- we live in a large Jewish community," said Jane Biliter, a senior. Each year, the school hosts activities for Holocaust Remembrance Week. "Until 10th grade, all we did was U.S. and European history. It's just so false that what he says is funny."
[...]
"It's not even worth responding to," said Aaron Hamilton, a senior. "He has nothing to say about my education and my future. He's just a guy talking on the radio."
