"While previous reports had him in the show, then not available due to scheduling issues, Outpost Gallifrey has learned that comic actor Simon Pegg of "Spaced" fame will be in the new series after all, according to a report today from the Spaced Out site. "And after a slight hiccup in time," Pegg wrote in an email to the Spaced Out administrators two days ago, "I am now confirmed to appear in Dr. Who. I travel to Cardiff to commence filming with Chris Ecclestone and Billie Piper this week." Later in the email, a wry comment: "I am not playing Young Davros." There is currently no word on the role Pegg will play (he was originally to take the role of a... relative of Rose Tyler) but it will likely be in either episode 7 or the two-parter episodes 9 & 10. (Thanks to Paul Blewett and the Spaced Out forums)"
If he had been cast as a young Davros I would have lost my shit. Totally. Lost. My. Shit.
I have developed such a crush on Simon it defies explanation. I suspect beyond knowing he's as big a geek as I am, he's just so goddamn adorable. And the fact that he reenacts the Death Star trench sequence with a camcorder while they're filming "Shaun of the Dead", and does a great Beatles-esque impersonation, doesn't hurt.
Well that certainly put me in a fabulous mood this morning, despite the fact that I didn't get much sleep and got into work almost an hour late. Fortunately I can just skip lunch and still leave on time so no biggie there. Did get (I think) all of the downloading required to play Half Life Friday night with my sis and a friend back home. Tried to do some screencaps from the last Jewel of Opar dvd, but no luck there. It's too bad too, 'cause there are some nice pics on there. Maybe I can get them in some other format, that'd be cool.
Finally got to get together with
jimweasel for tea and conversation. I think we chatted for close to 3 hours and could've gone longer but I needed to get some stuff accomplished at home and get to bed at a reasonable hour. Well, one out of two ain't bad.
Tonight, errands, and then I will be forced to go to bed early as Aelf will be staying the night and is getting up at an ungodly hour (4 or 4:30 I believe) so I'll undoubtedly be awake too. I, however, can roll over and go back to sleep, at least for a while.
Oh, and a sidenote, I ran into the post office last night to ship off two more boxes. I thought I'd just go to the automated thingy as there was only one person using it and no line. What I didn't realize was that the person using it was clearly mentally defective. After standing behind her for a few minutes while she laboriously attempted to procure postage for her first package, I got annoyed and peeked around the corner to see that there were actually employees on duty. Went over, waited about half a minute, bought postage for the two boxes, paid with a credit card, then walked back towards the machine. The woman was still on the same package. Best part? The instructional video teaching you how to use the machine was playing right beside her. I really think they ought to have a minimum intelligence requirement for its use. If you can't get through the process of mailing a single package in a minute's time you should get a pop-up screen advising you that you should really just go to a postal employee for assistance, you twit.
I'm sorry, that sounds harsh, but I promise you these machines don't have a steep learning curve. You press a few onscreen buttons and run your ATM or charge card through the reader. That's it. The only thing that should take time is the machine verifying said card, and then printing off a receipt.
