Many thank to
tamago for pointing me at this hilarious piece, Stalking Alan Rickman:
Tuesday: Have narrowed my list of possible mates for mid-life grand passion. Focus. Must have focus. Keanu? Too young. Harrison? I've read he has a bad back. Jackie? Maybe, but he would probably expect athletic sex. I think I would be impressed yet intimidated by someone who could strip, then bounce off the wall and land on the bed in a handstand. No, upon consideration, my destiny is clear. He's tall and lean, moody and complicated, with a baritone that melts the butter on my kitchen table: Alan Rickman.
Heh, definitely a wonderful read start to finish so go check it out!
Lessee, Friday night we gamed I think, most of it's a blur but I'm pretty sure there was a naval battle and that we won (barely). Our first actual pirating scored some wool, a little linen and lots and lots of goats. Aidan was pleased as it means his manor in North Bum-fuck can now be re-populated with livestock. Oh, wait, did I mention the chest of pennies? Yeah, we're up to our ears in those too. Well they can't all be filled with jewels and gold coins, right?
Saturday I was up godawful early and dragged myself down to the San Jose Flea Market to hit my favorite fabric shop. The huge rolls of metallic, many colored fabrics in the back were, indeed, organza. I left with 3 yards of 8 different colors. Apparently I should never be allowed in that store on my own either. Still, for $2 a yard I'm not complaining. I completed a light silver and forest green set of veils by Saturday evening and cut most of the rest of them into the proper shapes. I ended up with 3 shades of purple, 2 silvers, 1 exquisite gold, 1 dark green, and 1 turquoise. So pretty. I'll be trying the completed set out tomorrow night at class and that should tell me whether or not I need to put trim on them.
While I was out and about I also stopped by Cosentino's for supplies and the bank to drop off a check, but that was all I managed. I got home before noon and it was already sweltering so I was really glad I'd finished my errands early. Spent the afternoon crafting and cleaning the apartment until it got too hot to move. Then I spent some time splayed on the floor in front of the fan with the cats. They were entirely too cute all stretched out and napping.
Sunday I slept in, hooray! Then ran a few quick errands including a swing by Global Beads. All their Afghan jewelery is on sale for 1/2 off, including their gorgeous belts. I was sincerely tempted before reminding myself that I'm a cabaret dancer and would have precious little use for such a belt. Zoomed down to P-'s place for the bra covering workshop. Most of it was pretty much common sense, though the "Z" stitch she showed us was very helpful. I got about half of it done in 3 1/2 hours if you can believe that.
The only downside of the whole thing was B-, who is high maintenance at the best of times, but had the attention span of my niece and was just not cut out for doing this kind of work. P- looked like she was on the verge of murdering her more than once and I probably would've helped her dispose of the body if it came to that. Everyone else was focused and working hard on their respective bras. T- hit a major snag when, after covering half of her bra she noticed some oil-like substance leaking from one of the pads. Apparently her Wonderbra had a creamy silicon center. D'oh! Am very glad I went with a Victoria's Secret model now...very, very glad indeed.
By the time I left at 4:30 or so my head was about to split wide open. I made it home (barely) and collapsed on the futon as the living room was the darkest spot in the apartment. Ah, migraines, there's not a damn thing you can do about them except lie very still and quiet. It feels like your head is exploding in extreme slow motion and after a few hours of it you just wish it'd go ahead and get it over with already. I think I heard my phone ring once, so if anyone tried to call I apologize for missing it. At 8 I took a quick shower, two Tylenol PMs and crawled into bed. I lost a few hours productivity :( but I got more than enough sleep for a change :)
With any luck I'll be able to finish up my bra tonight (or close to finishing anyway), then I get to figure out the coin layout, which is the fun part. P- is making the rest for me, bless her heart, so no stress there, yay! And after chatting with several other members of the troupe yesterday I found out everyone is equally exhausted by the amount of practice we're putting in lately, which makes me feel a bit less decrepit :)
