Did anybody else feel like crying when Curtis got a double minor in the first? As soon as Iginla scored I knew that was all she wrote. The guys were just worn out, they tried their best, but sometimes the body fails despite your will to win. I couldn't watch the last few minutes of the game, rather tuned back in when I was sure it was either over or in overtime. Sadly, it was the former.

I took some consolation in the crack that is "Colonial House". Yeah, I know it's reality t.v., but it's clever and informative reality t.v. and it's on PBS so...well...yeah. Anyway, the interesting part of this one is not just the interaction of folks with one another or with the environment (i.e. "Pioneer House"), rather to me it's also the huge part that religion is playing in it all. The settlement's leader is a Baptist with extremely strong religious beliefs, and his second in command is a lay preacher.

It was fascinating to watch people from this era trying to find some sort of compromise between their lifestyles and convictions and those of their 17th century counterparts. The fact that religious observance became such a dividing line for so many of them (the biggest drama came from folks declining to attend Sabbaths and the fallout from that) was really interesting.

At any rate, it's an entertaining show and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Galley Slave Rating: Too depressed by the game to row :(
