Can't talk
May. 11th, 2004 08:22 amBut I can type, so hey that's something. Whatever allergen or combination of them is currently in the air is killing me. Right now my throat is really raw and itchy, even the roof of my mouth itches. Weird, I know. Can't do much talking but I'm all good when it comes to typing, thankfully. I just hope my office mate doesn't expect a lot of in depth conversation today.
An extended and productive weekend led to clean carpets, clean floors, clean bathroom, even a clean car. Go me. Also the front yard is now in tip-top condition. Of course the latter may help to explain why my allergies are so out of whack. Still, I'm glad I got it taken care of, it's been bothering me for weeks.
Also got to see two flicks I've been looking forward to, "The Cooler" and "Girl With the Pearl Earring". I enjoyed the latter a good deal more than the former but I'm a former art historian so more than a little biased. Though "The Cooler" made me want to pull out all the DS9 Vic Fontaine episodes and watch them all back to back. And I'm never going to be able to hear "Luck be a Lady" without smiling.
After a trip to Trader Joe's I stocked up on good for me foods and snacks and I utterly resisted major temptation. When I walked over to the freezer section and stretched out my hand for that key lime pie they sell I swear it was like Galadriel reaching for the One Ring. Seeing the calories in a single slice broke the thing's evil spell upon me. "I will diminish in dress size, and go back to the rowing machine and remain...Ellie." Will of steel, baby.
I've been using the rowing machine religiously, but not really getting anywhere endurance-wise yet. If I haven't made any progress by the end of next week I'm going to be very sad indeed. Still, my legs and upper arms are just stiff enough to let me know I gave them a good workout. I love that feeling. But I've got to keep the momentum going, that's the tricky bit. Class tonight should help, then rowing machine tomorrow, maybe Friday night after gaming, and depending on whether I go to the game viewing on Thursday, then too. We'll see.
Galley Slave Rating: Holding steady at pathetic.
