There is nothing like an early, warm spring to remind me just why I moved out to this state in the first place. I kept the door open in the back room Sunday night and as it got later the scent of jasmine steadily drifted in. I couldn't even tell you where it was coming from (I have a little jasmine plant, but not one capable of producing that much scent), but it was gorgeous. Last night on the way back from class I had the moon roof open in the car as well as one of the windows and was immediately hit by the scent again. I just kept on inhaling deeply, grinning about the fact that it was still in the 70's and only the beginning of March.

Life is good.

As you can probably tell from the icon, [livejournal.com profile] silkblade very kindly uploaded images from the latest performance. Haven't had a chance to go through and resize them (as well as lightening them up a bit) and post them on the official site, but I'm hoping to this weekend. I grabbed the two best of me for icons. It's nice to have more than one bellydance related icon.

Class was good, though exhausting, I think the heat in the studio was a little too much for me. Well that and still being physically wiped out from Saturday. When I once said I had an endurance of 12 I think I was being much too generous. More like 7.

Have a performance tonight at the insane hour of 6:45, hope nobody minds me leaving early because it's the only way I'll have time to get home, get changed and make-uped, and to the community center on time. Still, it beats the heck out of a late performance and a lot of sitting around waiting to go on. From the sound of it, it's going to be me, Alyne, and S- (who will hopefully make it, otherwise it's going to be a duet). We'll be doing the same routine that we did at Ma-Shuqa's, and maybe a little open floor dancing with the seniors. They're a nice bunch, and the performance space is to die for. Perhaps that's why I feel so relaxed about the whole thing, I don't have to fret about avoiding obstacles, hooray!

Alyne also brought up the option of competing in the Peoples' Choice Awards being held in April. I don't feel quite prepared for it, but I never do, so I'm not a good judge of this kind of thing. She's thinking a big double veil blowout, which could certainly win if we all practiced hard and had a kickass choreography. I'm not terribly enthusiastic about competition, hell I'm not even big on performances. I like dancing in the studio or at home and just having fun much more. But I think to a degree you're expected to want to perform and compete once you've reached a certain level of competence. We shall see.

Looking at the pictures from the last performance has decided me that I must lose 5 pounds over the next month or so. I think that's do-able, and now that I've finished up my latest big project, and have plenty of time to start on the next, I think fitting in more exercise time should be simple enough. Even walking around the neighborhood some evenings would help. A pound a week, I can do that...right?
