First, an LJ icon that made me burst into a fit of uncontrollable giggles this morning:

Second, they've apparently finished painting our side of the building and are starting to take the window covers down. I'll have a view again, hooray!
I love my new doctor, she's smart, nice, efficient, believes in seeing patients on time (a thing rarely done in medical circles), and awfully cute. I enforced my "no flirting with married doctors" rule, though and just smiled a lot. She also looked me straight in the eyes and maintained eye contact while talking to me, I like people who do that. I listened carefully to everything she said, was completely honest about my own past health issues and my current vices and got some good advice. Didn't feel rushed either, which was a delightful change. Usually doctors practically boot you out the door so they can stay on schedule. This felt almost, well, relaxed. I'm ever so glad I took the time to get my foot in the door over at Palo Alto Medical Foundation, it's a nice place (though they really need to do something about the parking).
Had a lovely evening with
jimweasel over tea at Lucy's. It was nice and quiet in there last night so we could sit and chat without having to bellow to be heard. Their peach tea is wonderful, I highly recommend it! Then went home and took care of a few odds and ends before calling it a night. Curled up to read for a bit before going to sleep. I'm enjoying "Kushiel's Dart" quite a bit and am halfway through it at this point. Really well written and entertaining. I love alternate histories, and this is one of the better ones I've read. I am a little disappointed in her descriptions of what goes on during Phedre's "assignations", but will admit that my standards where such scenes are concerned are quite high. I'm looking forward to having a little time to just curl up and read tonight. I should be working on stuff, but I'm really enjoying the book and should finish it in the next few days.
