Got to see "That Moustache Feeling" last night for the first time in years. So many hilarious lines and moments in that one, it made me laugh a lot.

Ok, so I know some slackers out there (and you know who you are, [livejournal.com profile] jakejr) have the day off. The rest of us poor slobs had to drag ourselves out of our nice warm beds and out into the damp, gray Monday morning. Fortunately Kage wasn't taking "no" for an answer regarding breakfast today, but was at least being polite about it all. So here I am, sincerely wishing I had something like a vacation or even long weekend coming up soon.

Anyway, good weekend overall. Friday night we gamed and my character suddenly had plot and things to do and got to use most of the skills I invested so many points in when this game started. As I wasn't feeling particularly well that evening it was nice to be kept busy. Although I do feel a bit lame for often forgetting just how combat works. [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano must get at least a little annoyed at having to repeat the basic ideas for me over and over again.

Was up far too early Saturday morning to take my car into the dealer. If anyone has ever wondered what the proper response is to the question, "How long does it take a VW service department to change a lightbulb?", it would be "approximately 2 hours". No shit, I got there at 10:20 and got my car back at 12:20 or thereabouts.

Here's a thought. Now most folks have weekends off, which is when most of us are going to want to have things like car repairs done. So why not give your service folks say Thursday and Friday off and have them work Saturday and Sunday instead? Sure they may bitch about it, but you pay them well (presumably) and it's an employer's market right now. That way not everybody in the universe tries to bring their car in at the same time on the same day. Additionally, why not make things like headlights for instance, changeable by the owner? That way we owners can do this sort of things for ourselves rather than bringing the vehicle in. It saves you time, saves us time, and everybody's happy.

The one bright spot to the whole thing was that the bulb I'd already picked up for about $7 at Pep Boys worked perfectly so I didn't have to pay about triple that for one from the parts department. Go me!

Anyway, zoomed up to [livejournal.com profile] jakejr's place after filling up with gas and realizing it takes a good deal longer from down in SJ than it does from home. Got mildly lost up in Oakland when the highway bunched up unexpectedly and I missed my offramp. But a little backtracking got me where I needed to go with only minor panic. Had a lovely lunch, though the folks at the restaurant kept trying to foist meat-dishes off on me. As it was I suspect there was a bit of beef flavoring or something in the dish I did get (one of the few veggie offerings) as my intestines weren't all that happy with me later that evening. But honestly, sticking a piece of fried chicken on an otherwise vegetarian dish? WTF?

Finally got to hand off the bulkiest of gifts, a knotted quilt in a lovely sage green, and was delighted to see it go. She also seemed to like it which made me very happy. Got the original version of "Kiss me Kate" so I now have the film and broadway productions in my collection! Shiloh demanded lap time, so I indulged her as J- and I chatted, then I got started back. The return drive wasn't nearly as bad once I made it past the pileup on 580. Actually heard the accident spoken of once I was 3/4 of the way home on 880, but what can you do?

Got to see [livejournal.com profile] tersa briefly and a bit of "Sharpe's Rifles", which is a fun production, though whoever did the soundtrack needs to be booted in the head. Electric guitars for a period piece? Ugh. Fun, though.

Then Aelf and I watched "Bend it Like Beckham" which I think I'm adding to my wish list. Very sweet, wonderful little movie and I would agree, "Mmmm, Joe." I've mildly crushed on JRM since "Velvet Goldmine" and utterly melted when I saw him in "Gormenghast", but that Irish accent just did me in. And the soundtrack rocks. I know I heard Bally Sagoo, and I'd swear there was some definite Daler Mehndi in there as well. I may need to pick that up too.

Sunday I was up by 10 and started working immediately. Got the lawn mowed, two loads of laundry done, all the floors swept and mopped, then vacuumed the carpets and finally started steam cleaning the back room. Also hit the grocery store so I don't have to worry about finding the time to do it this week. I've come to the conclusion that I'm taking in way too much caffeine again, something else to work on methinks.

Once the vast majority of the work was done I took some time to go through the "Goddess" choreography again. I'm getting most of the musical cues now, though the end bit is still puzzling me. I'm hoping the after class choreography session tonight will help me work some of that out. Two hours of dance class tonight, I may live to regret this decision, but I can't say I don't need the workout.

This time around I just can't seem to get my weight to start moving downwards again. I stockpiled lots of fat free yogurt which I'm hoping to turn into my new snack of choice. And it didn't help that I had a ridiculously late dinner last night. I think going back to the "no food after 8 pm" rule is a good idea. And lots more water, definitely need to drink more water (and therefore less soda/juice). And a bit more stringent with the calorie counting. I should see an improvement this week if I'm strict about it. *fingers crossed*

Oh for those who haven't heard it yet (and Aelf, this definitely means you) give a listen to Half Fling, it really is Dom and Elijah and has been described as sounding like "muppets on crack". Be afraid.
