There is just nothing like starting out the day sweaty and tired, which is what I am now after having single-handedly boxing up my entire department's shared files. Granted, my department now consists of two people, but we've managed to accumulate an awful lot of paperwork. Everything is neatly packed away and labeled and stacked and ready to go. I am a marvel of efficiency, go me.

Just a few more things in my desk to box up and I'm taking personal responsibility for our prizes that haven't been awarded yet. I don't trust the movers, I want them in a box in my car, and I will hand carry them to the new office myself so I'll know just where they end up. I've also discovered that a lot of crap in my desk area isn't really mine, but that of my predecessors. The idea of just leaving the stuff in boxes and stacked someplace out of the way is a rather appealing one. Yay more desk and filing space!

I find myself feeling a bit of ambivalent about the whole 9/11 anniversary. Perhaps it has something to do with having lost a family member recently, or with my negative feelings about the way this country and its leadership has acted since the tragedy. I'm not entirely sure. I do know, though, that should I feel the need to grieve for those losses this year I'll do it privately. I have very little interest in large, public displays of grief.

Tonight is double dance class, first our regular advanced one then a double-veil refresher as it has been too freakin' long since I practiced with them. And my spins have gone straight to hell. I need to work on balance and control, they are two elements vital to dance that I have the hardest time with. It's hard to try to overcome a lifetime of tripping over your own feet, particularly when you're as gangly and monkey-limbed as myself. But often the most worthwhile things in life require the most work, or that's been my experience anyway.

Things that make me smile today:
1) A beautiful full moon shining through my window last night.
2) Cherry preserves...mmm...
3) Progress on crafting projects!
4) Watching "A Scandal in Bohemia" done the right way.
5) An office with a window and a view, soon.
6) Snapple Raspberry Iced Tea.
7) My peacock bedleh set, it cannot get here soon enough!
