Before I forget, as I'm likely to get caught up in Phantom-raving by the end of this entry, here are some spoilery good pics from the TTT DVD's ROTK preview:
via MsAllegro's journal, Aelf you will very much wish to see these.

Friday night got to finally sit down to watch "Bell, Book, and Candle" with Aelf, [livejournal.com profile] tersa and [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano though I had precious little energy to do much else at that point. So tired. Afterwards they took off and Aelf and I collapsed in the back room and vegged for a bit while Pye roamed around yowling and Kage tried to use her mental powers to set him on fire. So far he seems immune. I thought I'd try him in my room as he seemed awfully fond of sitting in the window in there. This was a BIG MISTAKE, which I was soon to understand.

See several minutes after laying down Pye decided to take an incredibly smelly dump in his litterbox (right at the foot of my bed). With a weary sigh I got up to clean it out and as I opened the door he bolted. I soon realized that he'd managed to step in said dump and was at that time tracking it all over the house. Horrified I ran to catch him and did so with fairly little struggle. I then took him in the bathroom and attempted to get as much of said crap off his foot as possible. He didn't like that one bit. Finally, not wanting to get severely bitten by a pissed off cat and too tired to struggle against my fate, I let him go in the bathroom knowing what I'd have to face the next day. I then went back to my room, sat down on the bed and had myself a good long cry. Exhaustion will do that to me.

Finally collapsed and slept in three hour increments until about 9:30 at which point I needed to get up and deal with the bathroom. Just imagine walking into yours in the morning and seeing pretty much every surface covered in cat shit paw prints. Sighing, I checked his foot to see that having tracked it everywhere there was now none on his feet, yay. Plunked him in my room and just shut my bathroom up until I could deal with it. Ran to Target and got cleaning supplies up the wazoo. It took a couple of hours to do it properly, but by the time I'd finished every single surface was disinfected and cleaned. The bathroom again smelled like my bathroom and not a kennel. Then I just kept going around the house until my body gave out and I had to sit down for a bit and veg. Then back up to finish the yard and mopping the kitchen and finally laundry. By 6:30 everything was done, at which point I took a shower and collapsed on the futon for a few hours before calling it a night.

Apparently Pye got all of this craziness out of his system Friday night and was a perfect angel the rest of the weekend. Let's see how long he can keep it up.

Ahhh, Sunday. Got up feeling refreshed and well rested and spent some time with the kitties before having a near nervous breakdown over what to wear. Decided the pretty blue dress was just too short and my legs looked like shit, so no good. Went through most of my dresses before settling on the most form fitting sweater dress I owned. Again, BIG MISTAKE, but I was out of options and it was really time to go. My internal mantra started almost immediately, "Do not think about how you look in this. Your ass really isn't as large as you think it is, even though it looks huge right now. Stand up straight, don't eat too much at brunch and everything will be fine."

My first dim sum experience was interesting and I quite enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere. [livejournal.com profile] merlinofchaos and [livejournal.com profile] esmerel were old hands at the whole thing and with Aelf's waiter-eye-catching-technique we were pretty well taken care of. I ordered a spicy fried pumpkin dish that was quite heavenly and got to share some of it with [livejournal.com profile] tersa who'd been quite curious about it. And the pastries were amazing, particularly liked the sesame balls with lotus paste in the middle.

Headed over to BART and up to the city, which is surprisingly fast and easy from Millbrae these days. As we had time to spare we hoofed it up to Lush and I had a bit of an accident. Most of it was gift stuff for my mom, though, so, well, it wasn't entirely my fault. They had new shampoos and are apparently discontinuing my favorite bar shampoo, Gentle Lentil. *sad sigh* Also got one called "I Love Juicy" which I used last night. Mmm, fruity!

Got back to the theater with plenty of time to spare and was annoyed to see that there wasn't any new Phantom merchandise. Ah well, saved me some money really. Our seats were really quite good and I was pleased that we were closer than I'd thought we might be. The show was as lovely as ever and I had fun pointing out things to Aelf from time to time. Our Phantom, Brad Little was pretty good. What he lacked in vocal power he made up for in melodrama, and I could get behind that. After having heard Phantoms from all over the world I could put his performance into context and enjoy it for what it was. The rest of the cast was great, though our Christine left a bit to be desired. Ah well, I've heard much worse (Dale the "Chipmunk" springs immediately to mind), and she threw herself into the role almost as much as Brad did so, no complaints. Great Andre and Firmin, fun Carlotta and Piangi, and a nice Meg and Madame Giry.

Sadly I don't think the others enjoyed it as much as I did, I kinda missed my sisters and friend E- from back home who were as much into the show as I was. Carpooling up to see it on a weekend and hanging out together after the performance being Phantom geeks was also fun. I adored being able to compare notes with folks who'd seen the same performances I had and could discuss all the nuances ad nauseum. I'm afraid I bored poor Aelf with details and comparisons afterwards, but the show's been an obsession of mine for years so..well..yeah.

Had to pull out my video copy of Michael's final performance down in LA and do a little mental compare and contrast just to remind myself. I'm glad I've got at least one video performance to do that with, though I dearly wish I had all my old audio taped ones too. And my old programs. Hmm, maybe I can con the fam into bringing them out for Xmas this year...
