I had many good intentions for yesterday, none of which were realized I'm afraid. Well, ok, I did actually accomplish two things, I worked on my yard (which is lovely, if I do say so myself) and I bought more fat free Clover yogurt (cherry/vanilla is the yummiest yogurt I've ever tasted). I spread some moss under the strawberry plants to help keep the weeds down and the strawberries off the ground, here's hoping a few might actually be eaten by people now rather than the slugs. I'm just really, really not inclined to use poisons of any sort, I'm terrified of hurting birds, lizards, or heaven forfend, Kage.

Speaking of which, the little minx was out patrolling the yard last night when some poor hapless neighborhood cat decided to take a stroll through it. VERY BAD IDEA. I heard the yowls and flew out the door to see Kage growling and pacing at the foot of the fence and a few little clumps of gray fur blowing over the patio. I decided that was enough excitement for one night and lured her back inside. She gave one last venomous glare at the fence that clearly said, "Did not know who it was fuckin' with." and relented. When later a little tiger cat made the same mistake Kage could do little but hop into the window and growl menacingly. I peeked out, made eye contact with it, and it shot back over the fence.

I made sure to give Kage a once-over to see if she'd been harmed in any way by her earlier encounter, but found nothing. Not so much as a whisker out of place, I feel very sorry for the little gray cat.

Ended up slacking and playing way too much Golden Sun while watching a truly fun little Chinese film called "The Duel". Then I grabbed my veils and gave our new choreography a going over. Aside from not being entirely clear on the counts and what we're doing at the end I remembered most of it, go me. Then played around with my own solo routine for a while before calling it a night. Managed to get some meditation time in, which, considering my work day yesterday was a very good thing. The less said about the day the better I think. And tonight there will probably be intermediate class again, and with any luck a little veil time afterwards.

Looks like they've made final casting decisions on the PTO movie:

Those boys over at Moviehole just got Joel Schumacher to confirm his cast for the long-discussed film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Check it out:
Moviehole spoke to Joel Schumacher one-on-one about the three stars of "The Phantom of the Opera" RIGHT HERE!!

Are you going with Gerard Butler for the title role? I remember seeing him in Dracula 2000 and thinking he had real presence.

Yes. I saw him in Dracula 2000 too, and he’s in Timeline and the new Tomb Raider this summer. He’s the greatest, he’s like the Scottish version of Colin Farrell. He’s just a regular guy, he says it like it is. And he’s a fabulous singer. I knew him before we started casting Phantom and he told me he’d been in a band. I asked him if he could sing - not just stand up on stage with a guitar, but really sing - and he said ‘I think I could’. Then when he came in to audition he blew me and Andrew Lloyd Webber away. He’s going to be a great Phantom - a young, sexy Phantom. And I know the Michael Crawford fans are going to be hysterical, but maybe they should stay home then...

As for the female lead, I read it was between Anne Hathaway from The Princess Diaries and an actress named Emmy Rossum.

It’s Emmy Rossum. She’s coming up in Clint Eastwood’s film Mystic River, playing Sean Penn’s daughter. She’s 16 years old, a fabulous girl. She’s this very energetic New York girl but when she played an Appalachian girl in this movie Songcatcher, I honestly thought they’d found some local girl for the role. She was singing with the Metropolitan Opera when she was seven, singing in the kids’ chorus. And then there’s Patrick Wilson - do you know who he is?

He’s in The Alamo, isn’t he?

He’s in that, and Mike Nichols has done the play Angels in America for HBO - he’s the star in that. You know how Hugh Jackman was in Oklahoma in London? Patrick did the same role on Broadway. Those are my three.
