Got my copy of "Pryde of the XMen" in the mail yesterday and it was every bit as campy and silly as I recalled. I'd forgotten that Wolvie has an inexplicable Aussie accent in it. Pyro too for some strange reason. Never quite understood that. But oh Kurt is sooooo cute in it, and brave and self-sacrificing, so I wanted it for him. Also broke down and ordered the Broadway revivial of "Cabaret" from Amazon, Alan Cumming playing the Master of Ceremonies simply couldn't be resisted. I'm wondering if he's doing the same Kurt German accent in it. Hearing him sing "Two Ladies" in Nightcrawler's voice may well do me in *G*

Oh, dance-related public service announcement time, just got this from Alyne:

Hello Everyone! Here's a reminder about this weekend's fabulous single veil workshop opportunity with the master dancer Dunia. It's this Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 1PM at the studio at 5552 Southcrest Way, San Jose. See www.bellydance.com/events.htm for a map, cost is $30 for the 2 hour workshop with Dunia. All levels welcome, bring veil and get ready for a great

Also by popular demand, my Thursday intermediate class is returning to the skill building format, and development of challenging belly dance phrasing. The Raks Suhaila choreography is completed and a fabulous performance by Shaheen and Janel tonight concluded the training plan. Those who have been studying this complicated choreography can see me for refinements and continued practice outside the regular class time and we'll get this performance worthy by May 31 for the Medca halfa along with Choukraine, Princess of Cairo and the Tamerhenna drum solo. By the way, I hope you were able to see the beautiful lunar eclipse tonight!
Have a wonderful week. Hope to see you at Dunia's workshop Sunday, or in my Monday or Thursday regular classes.

[livejournal.com profile] esmerel, I promised to tell you when Alyne ended the really tough choreography in her intermediate Thursday night classes, so now ya know. I'm pretty tempted to go to the intermediate on Thursday myself. More time to practice Choukraine and Princess of Cairo would be fantastic.

Worked on our duet choreography some last night and quickly discovered the huge yawning gap between theory and practice. Just 'cause something looks good on paper it doesn't mean it's going to actually work. Both Aelf and I came to the conclusion that this number is going to scare the shit out of us, and we found several spots that could possibly blow up quite spectacularly in front of an audience. We finally got a bit frustrated with it and switched over to the old choreography, "Honey and Wine", which is a cakewalk by comparison. I keep telling myself that that one kicked my ass at first too, so maybe the day will come when "Tara's Dance" moves along just as smoothly. Maybe.

Trying to decide when/if to see Matrix 2 this weekend, it may have to just wait until the next I think. Of course I'm in no huge rush to see it anyway, which is good 'cause this weekend is pretty damn full as it is. Tomorrow is Tribal Fest where my mantra will be "You may have another pair of zills and an interesting turban and that's it!" We'll see if I can live up to that. Then Dunia's workshop Sunday, and hopefully more practice afterwards, we'll see. I should also squeeze laundry and groceries in there somewhere but I'm not going to beat myself up if they don't get done.
