So since I was home yesterday I let Kage out to romp in the backyard. She'd pop in occasionally to make sure everything in the house was running smoothly, then back out to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air while I slaved away over my computer. On one of her returns I noted out of the corner of my eye that she seemed to have something in her mouth. Rolling my eyes heavenward I sighed, stood, and growled, "What have we told you about prey items in the house?"
This was her cue to run into the kitchen, and then the hallway. I, of course, followed. She then dropped her prey on the carpet, and it began to scamper away. At first I'd thought it was poor maimed Stumpy again, but this appeared to be its larger, healthier cousin, Speedy. So I grab the cat and Speedy sees this as an opportunity to run to Aelf's room. Knowing how many potential hiding places there are in there I release the cat and she does what cats do best, pounces and grabs the lizard before it can get any farther. I walk into the kitchen and grab a plastic cup, fortunately I've dealt with loose prey in the house before and I know the routine.
Kage's sitting there staring at Speedy attempting to mentally impel him into flight. Speedy is not quite as dim as Stumpy and sat very still projecting, "I am not prey, I am just a large piece of carpet..really." Sighing, I popped the cup over Speedy, who then practically fled inside. Kage looked mystified, "What on earth are you doing, Monkey? And where did my prey go?"
I then hefted her and tossed her into the office while I grabbed a large mailing envelope and slid it under the cup. Then Speedy was released outside to, hopefully, go eat lots of bugs and snails. Kage finally figured out that there actually wasn't a door on the other side of the office and came wandering back sniffing furiously. To take her mind off it I gave her some food, and by the time she got done eating she'd forgotten there ever was a lizard in the house.
I'm thinking of buying her a nice plastic lizard to play with, but I'm not sure if it would set a bad precedent.
Anyway, on to other news, class rocked so hard last night, we started learning a new choreography after we couldn't get Chakrain to work properly. It's kinda sad when even the instructor can't remember how the choreography goes *G* "Princess of Cairo" looks to be a very graceful and beautiful dance, but definitely complex. We'd worked up a good sweat after two hours of dancing and the Alyne confirmed that she'd like
eilonwey,
aelfsciene and I to stay later to work double veils. We asked to go over cyclones (the new double veil "boogeyman" we need to conquer). It was my first time trying them with the lame rather than the chiffon, and I have to admit they're easier. We practiced them as a group, then individually. Aelf blew us all away when she mastered the chiffon cyclone and made it look absolutely exquisite. Alyne kept saying she wished she'd videotaped it because it was the best she'd seen. I would have to concur. We then tried alternating cyclones, one up, one down to see how it looked. I volunteered to start, which meant I did more spinning, but it was a great challenge, and even dizzy as hell at the end I stopped perfectly and didn't travel much, just paused and waited for the room to stop spinning. A few months ago I couldn't have done that, now, it almost comes natural. Progress!
Ah, and a little something that made me laugh good and hard this morning:
