So some of you were probably wondering where the hell my usual morning post was today, it got delayed due to insomnia last night which made me think, "Hmm, I could go into work and be absolutely useless on the busiest day of the week, or I could sleep in and do a little work from home when my brain is functioning again." I decided on door number two.

Right now I've got the backdoor open, the day is absolutely exquisite and I'm listening to the sounds of birds chirping rather than my neighbors' phone calls in their cubes. Man I have got to get me a job where I can work from home more often.

Um, ok, weekend update time. Saturday was delightful as I drove up to visit [livejournal.com profile] jakejr and we had lunch at Zachary's, then back to her place to watch a few episodes of "The Wire", "Zoolander", and quite accidentally, "Roxanne". It was exceedingly relaxing and damn but that pizza was good. Being a thoughtful roommate I brought some back for Aelf as well as a gi-normous cinnamon roll to share. Even half of it, though, managed to defeat me.

Sunday was class with Alyne where we worked pretty damn hard to get a handle on a few moves, and where we decided on what we'd like for part of our duet. Then Alyne asked us something that nearly floored us...would we like to appear on her teaching DVD that she's planning to film soon? We all looked at one another stunned, then grinned and replied, "Hell yeah!" How freakin' cool is that?! She commented that we were the most dedicated double veil students she'd had and that the dedication really showed. We were obsessed with dancing and you have to be to really master something. It was deeply gratifying to hear her not only acknowledge our hard work, but praise us for it. I continue to be so incredibly impressed with this woman and so grateful that we've had the chance to study with her.

Then we went home and I pulled out the weedwhacker and got my yard into slightly better shape. Well I can see the difference anyway, and that's the important thing. Hopefully we're mostly done with the rain for now so I can go back to mowing every couple of weeks rather than every single week. Fingers crossed.

After putting in a good day's work we went to see X2 again and I was even more impressed with the film on the second viewing. That opening sequence with Kurt just fucking rocks, well worth the price of admission right there. The end still bothers me, it feels like a bunch of re-shoots tacked on in a haphazard fashion, a small quibble, but a quibble nonetheless. Afterwards we went over to see [livejournal.com profile] tersa's new place, which is quite nice and within walking distance of where I work, go figure. After the grand tour Aelf and I ran over to get some dinner (Chinese for her, sushi for me) and treated ourselves to ice cream while we watched XMen 1.5. See the second one and then watch the first if you want to be impressed with the quality of "United" again. The special features were fun, some more than others, and hearing many of the lines that didn't make it into the final cut is always nice.

And now we've come full circle again. Oh, one thing I forgot to mention, I spent a little time Friday night uploading some new mood icons, whatcha think?
