Yesterday was interesting. Not in a "Hey, a meteor just landed in the middle of your backyard." kind of way, just in an odd occurrances, people popping up that I hadn't talked to in ages, and learning things I hadn't expected to way. I like those kinds of days.

Dance class last night was stupendous. Not so much the first class, which, like all first classes, was kinda slow and mostly consisted of Shira talking and us listening. The second class was incredibly cool, though, we're learning tribal dancing! It's a Lebanese form that involves very specific footwork and stiff upper bodies, which is totally different from anything I've learned to date. It's intimidating as hell, but in an entirely different way than the veil work is. It's hard on the feet too, lots of hopping and slapping the feet down, but I think it's going to look pretty damn cool if we learn an entire choreography to it. I also really like the Debkeh music we're dancing to, it's fast and fun and a real pleasure to move to. Also our dance class was significantly larger and more diverse than last semester. I miss some of the familiar faces from that group, but I recognize a few solo performers in this one and I almost feel like I'm "one of them".

What I mean is that for a long time I looked at soloists as somehow beyond my understanding. They were goals, people I looked to as my "someday" dream. And now I'm dancing with them...and I'm keeping up. We're all learning something new together and so far I can do it just as well as they can. This just floors me. The concept that maybe, just maybe I might actually be good enough to dance on my own someday...it's just...wow.

Sorry, that was hideously incoherent wasn't it? My apologies. Ahem, anyway, it sounds like there will be some sort of recital in early November for those brave souls who are interested. More details later, but I am quite certain that the gals and I (with the exception of a certain princess at this point *G*) will be performing. I'm not sure where it'll be yet, but my fingers are firmly crossed for Menara. The space is much better and so's the food (and service, to be honest).

My LOTR daily calendar shows a picture of Merry and Frodo in Moria when the Orcs are coming. Frodo looks pensive. He's so cute when he's pensive *sigh*

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mallen for dropping off the grill last night. We have BBQing capabilities at Chez Femme II! Woo! Of course you didn't take the peppers I begged you to, so I may be swinging by the office tomorrow night to drop them off. I don't care what you do with them, turn them into a hat for all I care, just please take them off my hands. That pepper plant is producing so much fruit it's absurd. Please, for the love of the gods!

Speaking of the gods, I got inspired last night. I let Kage out to romp in the yard as she'd been shut up in the house all day. When I ceased to hear the telltale jingle of her bell I slipped on some shoes and went out looking for her. I'd forgotten to grab the flashlight but discovered that I didn't need one. The almost full moon lit up the backyard with a gorgeous silvery light, so bright the nearby trees cast shadows. Oh [livejournal.com profile] technocowboy, I really wish you didn't have plans Saturday night, it's going to be absolutely magnificent out there! I'd still like to discuss some future ideas and maybe ask a few questions about your specific beliefs, so drop me a line sometime, huh?

Today at lunch I do some research. I dug up some of my old Circle Sanctuary News issues to pour through and look for ritual elements. Inspiration is what I need at the moment in regards to the ritual itself. The space should be more than light enough even without candles to cast a circle and do everything else that I need to. I love my yard, have I mentioned that lately? *happy sigh*
