That beats ectoplasm!
Sep. 12th, 2002 08:46 amI had a very nice evening, even if it didn't include directly oggling hockey players. Ah well, one can't have everything *G* Still, dinner with
aelfsciene and
tersa in a pub full of rabid hockey fans was quite enjoyable. The evening dragged a bit towards the end when they stopped having raffles and then this band set up for like an hour and a half before finally playing. Regardless, it was a much better way to spend the evening than sitting around the house watching 9/11 programming.
And I hadn't been to a pub in *ages*!
We did manage to win a soccer ball direct from England, which was nice, and threw much money at the various charities represented...and, ok, we did oggle a few men in uniform, and that was fun. Traffic didn't suck all that much on the way down, and not even a little on the way back, which was cool.
All in all, a fairly laid back evening, but a social one, and one spent with others in a jovial atmosphere. That was the way to spend the occasion, if one can call it that. Though it did serve to confirm that baseball is, without question, one of the most dull sports ever invented.
A surprisingly low key September 11th, all told, for which I am supremely grateful.
And tonight we host gaming, our first real "event" at the new place. I'm so excited, but at the same time a bit nervous. I want everything to be just right, and I'm already mentally tallying things that need to be done before the folks arrive. Yes I am a bit anal retentive, I admit this, but I like a clean house and comfortable guests. I think that may be the genetic heritage I inherited from my southern grandparents. If you're going to entertain, do it well.
Tomorrow the housemate and I have vowed to exercise. We plan to use our front living room to do some of the moves Una wanted us to practice. And we've both been feeling a bit slug-like lately and the need to whip ourselves into shape is becoming more and more pressing. Which reminds me, need to look into that rowing machine pronto. Want a svelte body. Need to lose weight. *sigh*
