Next, anybody interested in taking Alyne's double veil workshop on Sunday? I know
aelfsciene intends to, I'd like to, and if anyone else would be interested let me know. Here are the facts:
Session I 12:00 -2:30 pm Alyne's 2.5 hr Belly Dance Double Veil Beginners Workshop-: Brief theory of veil work--how veils behave with respect to choice of fabrics and shape, similarities and differences between single/double veil techniques. How to hold double veils, fundamentals of getting inside and out--training tips on developing strength, skill, spins! Perfect for first timer, or those who need fundamentals de-mystified!
August 25
Sunday
San Jose, CA
5552 Southcrest Way, San Jose, CA 95125
EACH SESSION $35.00
Both sessions includes Alyne's Syllabus for Double Veil Effects. 38 special effects you can learn!
The syllabus sounds incredibly handy, and while I like Shira a lot and respect her teaching, even she doesn't have the knack for double veils that Alyne does. I really wouldn't mind learning the basics from someone whose skills I profoundly admire.

The housemate also reminded me last night that if we do this workshop we will have 5 full weeks of Sunday bellydance events. Is that freaky, or what? Good lord we're *so* addicted. Also I found out today that I should have my "How to Make Beaded Bras and Belts" video tape tomorrow, the downward spiral continues }:)
I splurged on myself this morning and went ahead and bought the vegetarian cookbook I'd wanted on Amazon. It's a used copy so it was pretty cheap (under $15 with shipping), and focuses on North African cuisine. I will make a veggie bastilla, oh yes, I will. And who knows, maybe those potato things will be in there too, fingers tightly crossed!
The retail therapy helped my mood a bit. I awoke this morning remembering this long, involved dream I'd had that focused on the death of a friend. It was so vivid and real, I can even remember going through all the stages from shock to anger to grief. I even woke up grieving and so profoundly sad that not even going out to water my plants (a morning ritual that helps me wake up and center each day) helped. It doesn't help that I'm a pagan and often see dreams as omens or messages from higher powers. I'm trying to rationalize this to mean that my subconscious is trying to tell me not to take anyone for granted. To be supremely grateful that I have the people in my life that I do. Life is so fragile and short, it's good to have a reminder of that every once in a while.
Hopefully I'll shake off the melancholy at some point today, if nothing else seeing XXX tonight should help. Yay mindless adventure flicks, yay hormonal Vin-related surges, yay blowing shit up!
Crunches: 90
Overall emotional outlook: slightly negative, but improving.
