Continuing the musical theme, title of song and film please.

Last night was...interesting. And when I use that term it is very much in the same sense as the Chinese curse. First and foremost, the heat has gone from outrageous to utterly oppressive. When even breathing becomes an effort it's definitely time to head for the beach or the nearest air conditioned building. I, of course, did neither. Instead I got suited up and accompanied [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene and [livejournal.com profile] esmerel to dance class last night. There actually was some air on in there at least through the first class and it helped immensely. The routine is really starting to come together, and I like the direction it's going in. It's quite different from a lot of the stuff we've done before, which main consisted of flinging our bodies around as fast as we could. This one's got more interesting and smaller moves, in a lot of ways it's a lot more challenging and I like it for just that reason.

By the second class we were all gulping down bottled water and the air had been turned off (though a door to the outside was opened). Only 5 of us braved the heat to attend and I'm very glad I did, we got to go over the routine in minute detail repeatedly and I think I've got most of it up to the point where we seperate the veils and spin. I still can't catch mine to save my life. Ah well, I'll try to see it as a challenge.

So, covered in sweat and drooping with fatigue I decided to do something I'd never done before. I walked home from the park. It was just a bit dark and the heat was back down to a bearable level...and it was the last night I'd be able to walk "home" from class so I wanted to do it. It gave me some time to really appreciate the neighborhood I'd come to love, and to say goodbye to it too. I will miss living in Mountain View, I've enjoyed the past year there immensely.

I made it home feeling a bit nostalgic and peaceful to take a nice cool shower and then see the finale of "Love in a Cold Climate" on Masterpiece theater with [livejournal.com profile] windrose before heading for bed. Replacing a pillowcase on one of my pillows lead me to an interesting discovery. There was a silverfish...on the underside of my pillow. Now I don't squick easily, but those things freak me out...I think it's the way they move *shudder*. Anyway I dragged it off the bed with two fingers while grabbing for a shoe and chanting "Eww! Eww! Eww!" I managed to knock it off and flatten its already pretty flat body into a paste. I then thoroughly checked every inch of my bed for more of the offending creatures.

This led me to spend a good portion of the evening imagining what else might be hidden away in some dark recess in my room, completely unnoticed by me most of the time. I derailed this thought with some effort and attempted to pass out. The apartment poltergeist had other ideas, however, and decided to wait until I'd almost nodded off about five times and then making some loud, unexplainable noise. At one point I'm quite sure I heard c.d.'s falling beside my bed. Now there are some in a box, but there was nowhere for them to fall. At other points it was crinkly bag noises and the gods alone know what else. I think I finally nodded off around midnight or so.

So today I'm functional...just barely, and hoping that despite the crushing heat later on that the day will prove somewhat less "interesting".
