Weekend update
Jun. 17th, 2002 08:50 amWell another birthday has come and gone and this is one year that I actually feel I've become a bit wiser, learned some things of import, and changed pretty fundamentally. I'm not sure quite yet whether these changes are for the best, sometimes they feel that way and others...well, other times it's hard to tell. I suppose I shall just have to wait and see.
At any rate, had a nice dinner with mister_sunshine and the roomie on Friday evening which culminated with a deep discussion on the subject of ninja theme music. Any ninja worth their salt has their own theme, and I contend the best so far is definitely in "Duel to the Death". Cheesy HK flicks are a very important part of my existence, which I'm sure many of you will find quite sad. To those I simply say }:P~~
Went home and got my new half circle veil cut out and pinned and spent a reasonable portion of the weekend working on it. No way it'll be done by Tuesday, but perhaps by the next week's class. Maybe. Also found out that the credit check has gone through and that our kindly new landlord is going to give us the keys early. I like him already.
Saturday was spent with the lovely jakejr catching up on all our gossip and giggling face to face, then we grabbed a bite to eat and went to see "The Bourne Identity". It's a decent flick with some cool fight sequences...and I was very disturbed to have found Matt Damon sexy when he was kicking peoples' asses.
Sunday was being a lazy slug day, punctuated with a phone call home to wish Dad a happy father's day, a wee bit of packing, and then some quiet hours with h0h0 and the gang. Got to see "Traffic" at last and I have to say I was right in my original opinion of it. Interesting, had some good acting and a decent plot, but no real depth, heart, or meaning. It was all about throwing cool effects at you in the hopes that you wouldn't look past them and see that there really wasn't much there. And I could've done without the Michael Douglas plot entirely. This supports my contention that Crouching Tiger should've kicked this movie's ass when they were up against one another in the Oscar race...not that I'm biased, mind you *G*
Dragged myself home after eating some very yummy cake (raspberry, one of my all time favorites!) and watched the Witchblade premiere. It was very interesting and shows a lot of promise for some cool twists and turns this season. Lots of Irons weirdness/perversion which always makes me happy. Also caught the premiere of the USA channel's "Dead Zone". It's one of my all time favorite Stephen King novels and movies and it was really quite good. Anthony Michael Hall was surprisingly good, I liked how they handled his visions and he is doing an excellent job at angst-ridden, tormented Johnny Smith. It was also nice to see the younger Dax show up as his former girlfriend. She is very cute and I'm glad she's got work again.
Crunches: 80
Rose Condition: a little droopy

Date: 2002-06-17 09:49 am (UTC)I got my green veil finished yesterday! =)
And mentioning mister_sunshine, you remind me that Merlin wanted to grab hold of you and discuss some artwork. He wants to have some for his homegrown game, and wanted to chat with you about it, if you're willing. But he keeps forgetting to ask you. :)

Date: 2002-06-17 09:55 am (UTC)And I have serious veil envy! I did break down and buy the fabric I wanted in a deep purple which looks great and since it was 44" did the seam thing. It looks ok, but I wish they'd sell the cool fabrics in better widths for this..

This category includes working breeds such as collies, huskies and St. Bernards.
^_^
First, I can't believe I'm rules geeking at fricking midnight. I don't do this sort of thing.
Second, if popular ruling calls for it, I could go with a St. Bernard; I'm just fond of huskies, personally, and like to live vicariously through my characters. Actually--Ellie, which would look better, in your artist's opinion?
