I so need to catch A FILMMAKERS JOURNEY: THE ACTORS SPEAK ON THE MAKING OF THE LORD OF THE RINGS: RETURN OF THE KING:

San Francisco:
Sat. 2/14 Midnight KBHK - channel 44, KBHK - channel 12
Sun. 2/15 4:00pm KPIX - channel 5

The pics I've seen of it (mm, Hobbits) look absolutely adorable. Given my current lack of memory, though, I have the sinking feeling I'm going to miss it. Rather like Wire in the Blood which I forgot to tape again last night. And I think the one episode I did have is on the tape that got mysteriously broken (I would say it looks rather like it's been *chewed* but I'm not pointing fingers or anything). The Fates seem to have decreed that I shall wait to watch them all on DVD when they're released. So be it.

We finally started "Tammerhanna" last night and oh gods did I ever feel like a rank amateur. I could get the footwork or the armwork, but when I tried layering them together everything went right to hell. And Alyne is really enthused about teaching us "Hinko" (the veil routine) as well. So I'm going to be struggling to nail down two new pieces while preparing for a performance. Gah!

Speaking of which, for those who might be interested:

Feb 28 Saturday 5:30– 9:30 p.m
Ma*Shuqa’s Open Stage Hafla

Host India Restaurant 3695 Union Avenue, San Jose at corner of Camden (Hwy 880) & Union Avenue (Hwy 85) 408 879-0919 - dinner reservations recommended, Share the evening with your friends & family. Fashion Show - Open Stage – Folk Dancing

For dance performance RSVP and information call Ma*Shuqa at 408 356-9473 or Ma_Shuqa@hotmail.com

I know I'll be performing with Alyne, C-, L-, and possibly one new gal in the "Goddess" choreography. We may be doing some of the other routines like "Tic Tic" and/or "Princess of Cairo" but I'm not sure yet. I also need to ask Alyne what we're doing costume-wise (my guess would be bedleh). I'm hoping she'll wear her peacock set so I can wear mine and match, that would be fun. If not I'll probably go with one of my flame-colored ensembles to go with my browner veils. I'm definitely dancing this one with lame, though, the chiffons were a bear to use the last time I tried it.

Indisputably the Arab world's greatest singer, Um Kalthum sang melancholy operettas that encapsulated the loves of a nation. At the same time, the compositional genius of Mohamed Abdel Wahab profoundly transformed the music of his native Egypt. The emotional yearning and shattering power of these legendary artists are captured by virtuoso Arab musicians led by multi-instrumentalist Simon Shaheen and vocalist Rima Khcheich.

Pre-Performance Discussion
SIMON SHAHEEN AND THE NEAR EASTERN MUSIC ENSEMBLE

Join the artists for an informal discussion about their work and the evening's performance

I also need some decent pics of myself in dance gear, preferably performing. I have a few already but I'd like some I really, really like, you know? This may be an impossible quest, but I've gotta' try...

I will see if I can TiVo this for you and dump it to a tape of your choosing...is it the same show on both channels, just being shown multiple times?

Haven't a clue, I assumed the same time on both channels, though. And thank you!!

Not sure what this means, but I can't find any listing of those in TiVo's program guide for the next 2+ weeks. All I find is "Journey to Middle Earth: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" on A&E.

And Yahoo!s TV listings are showing news Radio at 4 PM on 2/15 on KPIX, and Paid Programming at midnight on 2/14 on KBHK (or Becker if I interpret that as Friday night). Granted these listings have been known to be in error, but I'm wondering at the source of your info.

Hm - on the KPIX website I do see the 4:00 showing as listing "Paid Program: A Filmmaker's Journey".

That definitely sounds like the one to me.

The 4:00am Paid Program on Sunday?

4:00 PM, when all the other listings except the actual kpix.com page say News Radio. I didn't see the same notation on any of the KBHK (also a KPIX station, apparently) times.

Hm. That March 26th thing sounds cool (if you are interested in organizing something :) ).

I should be at the Feb 22nd Goddess workshop! Will you?

Actually I should be dancing at that one, but according to Alyne you don't even need reservations, just show up a bit early and order some coffee or dessert or something and you're all set. Dancers get free dinner, though :)

I don't think so as we've done a bunch of private classes to learn Goddess. I'd feel kind of silly taking up space in a class where I already know the choreography. However, if you'd be up for some of the post intermediate class veil classes we've been doing there's plenty of space and we're about to start learning "Hinko".
