Definitely cape weather today
Feb. 2nd, 2004 08:35 amIt's funny, having spent several years living and going to school in Buffalo, NY one would think I'd be quite used to breezy days. I've gotten too used to the weather out here now, though, it would seem and wind and clouds seem somehow odd and even a little creepy. I think I may have crossed that invisible line that marks the border of "Californian".
I got to have a nice, productive weekend which made me feel all accomplished. Friday night's game was quite good (despite the fact that only 3 of us showed up for most of it) and Hav got to be useful and set things in motion. He also got to have sex with the Queen's Advisor. Go me!
Saturday I worked my tail off. Did more chores than I can even remember clearly, but suffice to say that my house was re-stocked and cleaned thoroughly. Even scrubbed the bathroom top to bottom. Hell, I scrubbed the litterboxes until they practically sparkled. By the end of the day I felt I deserved a little treat, so while Aelf was still out I curled up and skipped ahead a bit in DS9 (ok, a lot) to watch "His Way". I'm so glad I watched it alone, as I turned into a big gooey puddle by the end of it. It is, without question, one of the most romantic hours of television I've seen (and I own the entire Cupid series so that's saying something). It made even me, anti-romance cynic that I am, sigh heartily and wonder when a curmudgeonly, adoring constable was going to come sweep me off my feet.
At the end I promptly bitch-slapped that part of my psyche back into submission. But it was fun while it (briefly) lasted.
Should've done an Imbolc ceremony that night, but I was so exhausted after a hard day's work that I put it off until Sunday. Or at least I told myself I was going to. In reality I spent the next day running errands, crafting, watching "Sharpe's Eagle" (good, though still doesn't have the character-driven appeal of Horatio I think) then many DS9 episodes from S2. I'm rather impatiently looking forward to Wednesday when we can get back to it with "Rules of Acquisition" and "Necessary Evil". The latter is also on my top ten episodes list.
Got the scarf I started Friday night finished and lay it on the floor beside the futon only to have Pye run over and claim it as his own. Aelf and I watched him going ga-ga over the mohair to the point that she had to grab her camera. He was just...well, the only word for it is molesting the thing. I swear he was trying to rub every part of his body on it. Finally I pulled it away from him and gave him one of the partially leftover skeins to make sweet love to. He not only played with it all night, but was at it again this morning. My cats are giant freaks.
Didn't get much sleep last night (maybe 5 hours here and there through the evening) and I have no idea why. Well, at first it was the realization that I'd totally blanked on the Imbolc ceremony I'd promised myself. I beat myself up about that for quite a while, then tried to figure out a time to re-schedule it to. This weekend seems the most likely given my schedule. Then my left shoulder started acting up (it's been twinging a bit for about a week and a half now for absolutely no reason) and I couldn't sleep on that side, which didn't help matters. Today I'm stiff, exhausted, setting aside my low caffeine edict to stay awake, and I have two hours of dance class tonight. *sigh*

Actually it's a little depressing really. Thank goodness I have randy characters I can live vicariously through.
