You see this:
The LOTR Movie Soundtrack Boxed Set, and despite the fact that you own all 3 you still think, "Oooh, must..have..the Precious!"

Secondly when you consider responding to this:

The folks from VH1 write: VH1's New Hit Show, "Totally Obsessed," celebrates pop-culture and the people obsessed with it. We would love to do a segment on a fan of the "Lord of the Rings" movies, books, and/or characters. We are looking for people who are not just fans but who have gone to extreme measures for their passion of Tolkien's masterpieces. If this is you please email your obsession, and photos to zachary.johnson@vh1staff.com

Aelf, you think we qualify?

And when you find out who swept the Las Vegas Film Critics Circle Awards:
Best Director, “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Peter Jackson
Best Costume Design, “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" Ngila Dickson and Richard Taylor,
Best Picture, “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”
Best Art Direction, “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”
Best Visual Effects, “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”
Best Cinematography, “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” Andrew Lesnie
Best Score, “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” Howard Shore
Best Supporting Actor, “Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” Sean Astin

you start praying that the Oscars follow suit. Though I'd dearly have loved to see them take best actor too *sigh* And we can't take best score anymore *double sigh*

Oh, and this user icon *so* rocks:

Heh.

And is it truly sad that I've asked precisely the same question about Frodo's odd wounds as these folks? I still contend that there was no way Shelob could've gotten him where they've placed the make up "scar", not while he was wearing his mithril shirt anyway. And how the heck could it have healed so fast anyway?

I should really stop now, huh?

Aelf and I managed to be both be home last night and indulged in a little movie viewing we've put off for much too long. I came to the conclusion that I have not taken nearly enough drugs in this lifetime to have properly appreciated "Alice". Not nearly. And I think I've seen enough stop-motion taxidermy animation for a good long while. Still, an interesting take on Alice in Wonderland, and I liked that her adventures all took place within the confines of a Victorian home that was just off-kilter enough to seem like some strange fantasy world.

I think we should rearrange things in the office tonight and get some pictures taken; you can bring your figures out and we'll set up the collages somewhere. I just wish I had a RotK movie poster, maybe I'll check at the mall tonight, if I manage my hoped-for errand run.

And you're right, that icon is great. But for me, nothing can beat Saruman Claus. ^_^

I'd always assumed the incongruously-placed scar was left from the gunshot wound that Frodo endured in Peter Jackson's epic Lord of the Rings: The Version That I Pulled Out Of My Ass.

God, I've gotten really vicious about this film, lately.

My guess on the healing factor is that if Shelob wants her prey alive and sleepy, she probably doesn't want them bleeding to death while she's waiting to get peckish. So there may be some sort of coagulant here.
