Please, someone talk me out of buying a rowing machine. Tell me I don't need it, don't have space for it, would have to lug it to wherever I move and should be saving my money for other things...like, oh moving or something.

Reassure me that I can get one after the move and that I can do plenty of other exercises in the meantime. Try to make it sound convincing if you can. Thanks.

Those bastard things are INSANELY heavy. You do not want one until after you move, at the least. You will completely regret having to cart it up the stairs, and back down in a few wakes. Moving excersize equipment of any form is a complete bitch. Resist!

Thanks, hon, I knew I could count on you as the voice of pragmatism here. Though I should point out the ones I'm looking at are actually quite small and light. Still, I do live on the second floor...

Happy to help. :) As a second note, it's TOO BLOODY HOT to excersize that seriously in your sweltering apartment. ;) You'll dehydrate and pass out and that would be all bad.

Save it for 2 hours of dance class in a week and a half ;)

What she said. Especially if you expect us to help you with your moving, you are not allowed to buy a bunch of heavy metal crap just before you start. My foot, she is down.

How about you come to my place and have a look at my room, sometime? I can point out allllll the stuff I have left to sell, and let you gape in horror at how much stuff I've crammed into my bedroom. ^_^ See, I think the extra bedroom would be an excellent place for exercise gear, but if I'll be taking up some of the space for a month or two, there won't be space for it.

Now, after we move, I'll enthusiastically shop for a rowing machine with you, cuz I'm very very interested in that sort of thing, myself. But before, I'll just point and laugh at you

Thanks for the support <G>

BTW, checked that house in MV last night, it was a complete hole, am beginning to think a rental service might be in order...

Yeah, I saw that earlier, and was kind of alarmed--I'd planned to buzz by tonight, but I won't bother, now. Were there any worth checking into this weekend, from the listings you found?
I mean, I'd love to get a concrete start on it, but probably the best way to do it is rental service. I just hope they're as good with house listings as apartments.

Bay Area rentals seemed ok, but we should probably talk to Megs about the service she used. I've sent out a couple of emails, but no responses yet, and the places I'd called were already rented out. I suppose we should pick up a copy of the classifieds this weekend and take a look and make some calls. I'm not seeing much of anything on Craigslist.

But, but...

How about working out with me, at the Toscana (or Avalon or whatever the fuck they call it) gym? I've been trying to hit the cardio at least 3x / week, and I'd probably do better with a partner and schedule. I just get on the runner and read my book, mostly. Also, I am sure Graham would be happy to let you borrow the key fob or make some kind of arrangement ... BHA works out there pretty regularly, she just drops in and borrows the key thing.

Darling, I'd be delighted! I'll have Tai Chi on Mondays, Bellydancing on Tuesdays, but the rest of the week is pretty open, so I could definitely make one evening of gymming. And I'd love to be your moral support, if you agree to be mine, 'kay?
