"There never really was much hope."

Saturday was a whirlwind of pre-recital errands and chores followed by frantic rehearsal and even more frantic dressing and putting on make-up and trying desperately to do something with my hair. Then zooming to the Milpitas Community Center to dance in a room roughly the size of some peoples' walk-in closet. Now that was exciting.
The outside of the building was quite gorgeous and there's a space in front of the huge pool/fountain that would actually work much better as a venue than what we got. Ah well. The regular choreographies mostly worked, though the "Curse of Chokraine" reared its ugly head once more as the cd started skipping halfway through the routine. Fortunately we'd brought another copy of the cd and it played beautifully. The crowd was relaxed and laughed with us during the whole thing, and as the event was being videotaped we've got a nice addition to a future "blooper reel" I guess.
Anyway, we made it through four choreographies, chatted with a lot of folks, took many pictures, and generally had a grand time. Pictures will be forthcoming when I get about an hour to sit down and edit then upload them all.
Yesterday was volunteering and then a whole lot of nothing as we camped out crafting and watching the LOTR movies. There was a short dinner break when
tersa joined us for Two Towers, and while the Blue Mango is quite close to home, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a great Thai place. It's ok, but having lived around here long enough to have had fabulous Thai it made me a bit sad.
tersa also brought her incredibly decadent and wonderful tofu chocolate pie, and I decided I'm allowed to have one slice per year. Yeah, it was that good. Far too dangerous to be exposed to more often than that.
Got my costume mostly done, just need to place either some eye hooks or velcro (haven't decided yet) at the very bottom and it's all set. Worked for a while on another project, then decided I didn't like it and tossed it aside. Will get back to work on my two big gifty ones and hopefully I'll have them done in time for the holidays. I'm really counting on Thanksgiving for intensive crafting-time, but we'll see.
