May. 22nd, 2002 08:51 amHave you ever had a day where you just felt ambivalent towards everything? I'm having one of those days. It's like I'm sleepwalking or something. Weird.
Anyway, yesterday was gym day and after eyeing it warily for a while I actually climbed onto the elliptical machine. Five minutes later I climbed right back off again. Ye gods that thing kicked my ass good and proper. I do feel like it's become a bit of a personal challenge, though, can I make it up to six minutes next time? Seven the next perhaps? We shall see. In the meantime yay leg press! Yay arm machines. Yay actual beginnings of muscles in my upper arms and calves. My new mantra is "I will have definition, I will have definition."
I got to bestow part of h0h0's birthday present upon him, but the rest will wait until the actual day (or day before as the case may be). He also gets two free tickets to an Oakland A's game, I'm taking the other two (one for me, and one for John who'll be visiting in a couple of weeks!). I'd also like to invite aelf to join us as we'll be attending an A's/Astros game on June 8 and she has the other ticket voucher. *G*
I'm not a big baseball fan, but it'd be cool to see a baseball game live as I never have before. At worst we could all get bored and wander around Oakland or zip up to SF or something.
Anyhoo, I think that's about it for the moment, I'm going back to my Zen-like state and attempting to get some work accomplished.

heh
Date: 2002-05-22 09:35 am (UTC)I wish I didn't have so much fat to lose before definition would start showing; I can tell I'm getting stronger, and if I really look, it's visible in my arms, but the coating of blubber covers the muscle way too well. Feh.
I'll be at the gym around 5pm tonight and tomorrow, and you're welcome to join me; drag the guys along again, if they'll let you!
Count me in for the baseball game--I've only been to a couple, but never an A's game, and that sounds like a fun Saturday outing. And I've got two vouchers, if there's anyone else who we want to drag along

Yay baseball! As for who else to drag along, perhaps we should put it up as a seperate message on here and see if anyone is interested? I'd imagine Kirby would be if offered.
Re: heh
Date: 2002-05-22 10:49 am (UTC)I think I'm just too picky and impatient--my calves have always been the most likely area to actually show muscle, and I want it elsewhere, damnit! But you're right, and I shouldn't get too down on myself, but instead look admiringly at my own calves. Er.
Sure! Kirby'd be fun, if he's interested! It just seems wrong to have an extra free ticket but nobody to use it. And I like the plan of defaulting to SF if it's lame, or whatever

Date: 2002-05-22 01:17 pm (UTC)I had a really difficult time the first few times I used the elliptical trainer. I finally got the trick when I realized you had to get into a rhythm and let your body 'go' to fall into it. I was trying to fight the bouncing motion too much and couldn't use the machine at all.
After that, it becomes 'easy'.
