So I got the bad news today, the other box of comics being shipped out here from home appears to have gone missing. The PO claims they delivered it last week, I never saw it. Unless they managed to cram it into the bush it ain't there and never was. This is a bit of a tragedy in that it contained all my Excalibur back issues, plus some other X-titles I believe and my complete Baker Street run.
I will at least make a stop at the PO and have them double check that it's not there, but deep in my heart I know they're gone for good. Ah well, that's what happens when you get too attached to material things. I suppose it gives me an excuse to start collecting them again. Hmm, wonder if I could find any on eBay...
*sigh*
On the plus side, while someone seems to have made off with my comics, they were kind enough not to swipe the steam cleaner that our UPS person helpfully left sitting upright just in front of our door. Didn't even attempt to conceal it. It's a good thing our neighborhood is normally so crime free or that would've been $90 out the window. A pox on all stupid package deliverers!
Class was good, though unexpectedly challenging. Apparently the floor had just been waxed that day which made doing two choreographies that involve a good deal of turning around and spinning quite interesting. Thank the gods we didn't have to do veils on that floor, I would've ended up on my ass. Hell, I almost did just doing Choukraine! Alyne also announced she wants all of us to be able to dance those routines as solos. I am never, and allow me to repeat this, *NEVER* going to get Choukraine pounded into my skull. It's just not going to happen. I have accepted this and am moving on with my life. Now "Princess of Cairo" is a no-brainer for me, it's all musical cues, I can follow that.
I think we've also agreed to dance at a senior center in a couple of weeks. It's a nice thing to do for the folks living there and apparently the dance space is to die for. Also they apparently record everything and reward their
performers with a nice disc to take home with them.
And I think I've convinced Aelf that we should splurge and treat ourselves to DSL at home. Go me!

Date: 2003-06-24 09:53 am (UTC)If you choose not to go with the DSL service, check into the rates for unlimited local calls. I think I pay something like $25/month for that.
One of my former bosses just got DSL via SBC/Yahoo!. He said it's only $29.95/month (as opposed to I think $49.95/month the last time I priced it), which would go on top of your normal phone bill.
Since I gave Aelf the DSL modem, you shouldn't need to get that. You will probably want to invest in some kind of firewall that does NAT'ing to get around their DHCP-assigned address and allow both of you to connect to the 'net simultaneously...
The real ass-raping is the install cost. :P
